Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.1 at bedtime. 4.9 at breakfast. Marginally higher than of late, but I did drop 1 metformin 500mg 3-4 days ago.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Having become an avid label reader while supermarket shopping I have noticed that Asda's "Chosen by you" peanut butter has 2 different carb readings for their smooth (10.8g/100g) & crunchy (4.6g/100g). I always thought that curious.

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

I agree, but in this instance I interpreted it as the "normal" range for BMI index purposes, so quite quantitative. There is also reference to PFT (personal fat threshold) in the document when qualifying this answer. The main purpose of re-posting the document was to suggest that ND may work...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

@Living-by-the-beach I've just re-read a document from Prof Taylor on the ND with some FAQ's and the 4th question is, "Could it work for people with a normal BMI?" I don't know if you've previously seen this page, but I found it useful re-reading it several weeks after I first saw it before...

Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

Great result - 1 week to go to ending ND for me and I will be making a trip to Morecambe for my nearest Lidl for a supply of these, Thanks for the analysis and confirmation of others publishing their experiences. Seems the majority can tolerate them very well.

    What meter to get?

Now i have the Accu-chek Aviva and I am very happy with it. I have no other experience to compare it to however. Chemist-bought testing strips can be expensive but there are plenty on Ebay for £10-£15 per pot of 50 if you are self funding. I bought the meter from Asda on a £10 offer.

After a 5.3 at bedtime, the 4.2 this morning was a very pleasant surprise.

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

Nope - day 45/56 & today's weigh in was 14st 4lbs (90.7kg). FBG 4.2 with a 30 day avg of 5.4 - all going in the right direction and might even exceed by self-imposed target of 14st :D. To reach a BMI of 24.9 I need to reach 12st 11lbs with my 5' 10" height. 14st would make it 27.4 - roughly the...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

Interestingly Prof. Taylor's team published a short report in Jan 2013 that collates information from the people who have contacted them since publication of the Counterpoint Study (on the reversibility of Type 2 diabetes using a very low energy diet). The initial study involved selected 11...

If GP's would only recommend that newly diagnosed & even established T2's check this forum out rather than the rather conservative DUK it might help more of us.

I have picked up on that theme over the weeks I have been browsing on here and from posts by those that have preceeded me. It's interesting from my perspective that the Exante products aren't proportionately that low in carbs; today's 3 x 200 cal meals, for example, have totalled 52g of carbs...

    Calories in....Calories out

I recall reading in the last month about exercise has less impact on weight loss than previously thought. It's what you eat that's more important. Exercise is excellent for toning up & fitness levels, but not necessarily for weight loss.

I can second that. Day 43/56, 14st 5 3/4lbs. Cumulative loss in 6 weeks just over 31lbs. Bloods bumping along at around 4.6 - 4.9 each morning.

Nobody could have more uncertain about achieving anything on this plan than me, especiallywith my previous eating habits. Take it one day at a time. Drink plenty to help fill those gaps between "meals".
