    Moving Areas and NHS Trusts

Hi guys, I'm moving from Basingstoke in Hampshire to Rochester in Kent and was wondering if anyone has had any issues moving in terms of funding. I have the Libre which my DSN managed to get approved for me despite me not being technically eligible. I am a Prison Officer so she felt it would...

    Got the Freestyle Libre today!

So I am feeling incredibly lucky. Today I got the FreeStyle Libre! I was told I wasnt eligible due to being recently diagnosed. However my return to work risk assessment dictated that I have to test my blood sugar every 2 hours at a minimum. My fingers were getting so sore due to the amount...

We are indeed, I turned 28 on 17th! Ah no I haven't posted today as unfortunately, I have been at work. It has been interesting managing at work but they have been really helpful and willing to make any adaptations if needed. Thank you, and to you as well! I had to fill in a survey yesterday...

    Two months in..

Hi @Jenkyk89 Your journey sounds so similar to mine! I too had recurrent thrush and had very similar readings to you. My HbA1c was 105 at diagnosis. How old are you if you dont mind me asking? I was only diagnosed 1 month ago (yesterday) so it's really refreshing to see how well you're doing...

New blog as I learn to live with T1 diagnosis

Thank you Marie 2. You have helped explain some of my frustration - sometimes I can eat a fair amount of carbs and have a small dose of insulin and then drop into a hypo. Other times I have not so many carbs with a slightly higher dose and I'm on 14+mmol/l. As you say, probably my body...

New blog as I learn to live with T1 diagnosis

Thanks for the information Scott-C - I hate not really being in control so just finding it frustrating. I was thinking about looking at a CGM as I'm a Prison Officer and will have lots of variables for my glucose, like adrenaline for one! I will also check out the book x

New blog as I learn to live with T1 diagnosis

When I asked the DSN about it, she said about the honeymoon period and just said there was no point. This was only over email, so when I see them face to face on 23rd August I'll ask again. I almost feel like I'm eating more than I want to be to prevent hypos at the moment which seems illogical...

New blog as I learn to live with T1 diagnosis

Thanks Knikki. At the moment I am on fixed doses of Insulin. My DSN said I won't be carb counting until I'm out of my honeymoon period. I'm finding it difficult on fixed doses as I'm either hypo'ing or way too high! I will check it out though, I want to get as ready as I can for carb counting...

Hello From A Newly Diagnosed Type 1

I've had my first appointment today. I've been put on 4 injections a day - 3x fast acting (Humalog) with meals and 1x slow release (Abasaglar) at bedtime. They've started me on a low dose and I'm having a review on monday to potentially up it. I had a fair amount of ketones in my urine so they...

Hello From A Newly Diagnosed Type 1

I don't have any ketone strips, I was just sent on my way after being told to cut out all sugar in the meantime. He was perplexed that I still feel pretty good in myself ‍♀️ I went to get tested as I initially had recurrent thrush and absolutely no reason for it. I also started getting...
