    Extended fasts

@bulkbiker when I did my 7 day fast I did have coffee, green tea, broth and plenty of water. The coffee and tea only had a little bit on cream 1tbsp for coffee and just a couple drops in the tea. Over the 7 days my bg numbers were anywhere from 3.8-8.5. The second day and last day were the...

    Extended fasts

After listening to "The Obesity Code" and "The Complete Guide To Fasting" in audiobooks, I did a 7 day fast and have since done a couple 2 days fasts and have been doing 24-36hour fasts off and on. Has anyone here done any fasting longer than 7 days? I'm considering doing a 14 day fast as I'm...

did exercise help you in any way terms of health

@Mbaker I don't really believe the weights, or any exercise for that matter lowers my bg levels but I have noticed they are way more stable. What I did find that lowered my bg was taking a Creatine supplement. I actually went hypo 3x in a week. I have since stopped all supplements and even with...

    A Veggie Question

Before dinner this evening (grilled pork chop and salad) I had a bg reading of 6.5. 2 hours after I get a reading of 5.1. I don't understand why it is lower. Doesn't ones bg usually go up after a meal? I figured the protein would raise the bg marginally.

    A Veggie Question

I know that on lchf going low or no starchy vegetables is optimum. What I would like to know is, do I have to limit non starchy/above ground vegetables to gain the full effect of glucose control/weight loss? My bg is slowly coming down (6.9 this morning) but I have been eating quite a few...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

@Hammer1964 since being diagnosed several years ago I have never had good fasting bg numbers. On average they were higher than my 2 hour post prandial readings. Since cutting carbs, fasting and IF, my fasting numbers have come down. The last spike was due to an indulgence of ice cream...

Late morning brunch, 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, chopped up sausage, onion, green peppers and 3 strips of bacon. Followed up with coffee with cream only and a few walnuts and peanuts. Dinner will be roasts beef with broccoli and cauliflower and a very small amount of mashed potatoes which I...

I don't mind my healthcare team recommending carbs, it's the kind of carbs I disagree with. I see nothing wrong with the vegetables, it's the constant, "eat whole grain" breads. I used to be a baker way back. I know what goes into these things. I never made bread where sugar wasn't used to...

@Daibell I have come to that conclusion after reading the above mentioned books. It seems once the people get their professional credentials, learning becomes a thing of the past. Thankfully there are people like Dr Fung

    Fat intake.

I have found tolerating large quantities of fat makes me feel bloated. When this happens I drink water with apple cider vinegar in it. Seems to help.

did exercise help you in any way terms of health

@static192 I started lifting about 3 1/2 years ago. I had a bad lower back (drinking injury) from a slip and fall 25yrs ago, a bad knee (candidate for replacement) and a bad right foot planters faciitus. I found the heavy compound lifts, deadlifts and barbell squats really helped. My back...

@Freema that was my fault, I slipped up last evening and my numbers are showing their wrath today. Live and learn.

@Hammer1964 I worked with my dietician when she was going through university. She has given me three meters and numerous testing supplies. Seeing as I know my dietician quite well, and all political correctness goes out the window when we talk, I just might let her know she needs to take some...
