    Removing libre sensor

Thanks for all the suggestions! If I use one again for a check on how things are going I'll try oils or a shower. I was using the free trial and found it a bit addictive but not really necessary for a type 2 on my current medication. Still, I found out how harmful porridge is for me :(. Of all...

    Removing libre sensor

Sorry - done it! But it was damned difficult. I'm amazed people ever have them fall off!

    Removing libre sensor

Stupid question but any tips on how to remove the sensor? Mine is stubbornly refusing to budge.

    Metformin

Like many others here I would continue my metformin, whatever else might change, as it has other health benefits (I don't know quite what but think my GP may have mumbled 'cancers').

    Male chronic UTIS and exhaustion

My ex-husband, so not exactly a much loved one, has a chronic UTI. He has normal energy levels though. I agree with EllieM (again!) that your husband's diabetes might be the culprit there. Illness itself also raises blood glucose.

    low carb snacks

Just thought I'd give a shout out for fat balls, if you're keto. There are lots of recipes online, both sweet and savoury, and they boost your fat intake too!

    Advice needed

I agree so much with @EllieM that I had to write so!

Newbie Hba1c of 110 and scared

I'm no expert but I wouldn't expect that to cause imminent harm. I suspect they'll start you on some medication though, and looking into the low carb diet is worth doing. Just take it as a lesson learned and get back on track now. Others on here seem to have similar readings and are still alive...

    So.....about bulletproof coffee?

I doubt the sweeteners would make any difference. It's just another way to get fat into the body. BUT Splenda does have some carbs in it, unlike stevia, erythritol and the like. Also, some people get a bg spike from sweeteners anyway so you are best to exclude them if you are one of those people.

Is it worth running it past the mods first in case it is seen as advertising or something?

No NHS support for prediabetics who are not overweight

I don't again now! My daughter is a recovering anorexic and couldn't cope with me altering my diet away from hers. I was eating a max of 35g carb per meal but more or less normal foods, minus potatoes, pasta etc. When I was keto I got sooo bored of the same foods, even when cooked in different...

    Sleep problems

When you wake at 3am (sounds soul destroying!) could you take a dose of Phenergan to help you drift off again? I know it isn't solving the waking part though. I don't have any bright ideas for that. But it might settle given time. One other thing occurs to me - is your mood ok? Early morning...

    Stuck

I'm back on them now I'm off dulaglutide. Thank you for the plan though. I'm not sure I'd have bothered otherwise as I wasn't really registering it was a problem! I was too focused on constantly feeling sick at that time. Thankfully I'm able to eat and drink again now.

    Stuck

Thank you again. I know what you say makes sense. And I've joined loads of things! I'm particularly struggling at the moment, I think, as I have bipolar disorder too and missed days of medication due to the vomiting from the dulaglutide! I'll get through this, I'm sure. I'm just a bit down...

    Low carb and low fat?

I had my gallbladder out many years ago and when I later went keto had no problems at all with the fat content it required. I suspect their advice would be necessary if you still had a gallbladder and problems with it, but afterwards bile will be entering your gut still, just not in a targeted...

Thank you @AndBreathe for the kind and supportive post. We do indeed know the root of my daughter's anorexia and she has been having therapy for several years now to address the underlying issues. She has worked really hard at it and is in a much better place now so I'm hopeful about China, but...

    Stuck

I'm not expecting solutions as I've tried, or considered, everything in the past year with no success. Really I just want some sympathy for what feels like a no win situation. :banghead: I live with my daughter who has been in the process of moving to China for almost a year now (thanks a lot...

No NHS support for prediabetics who are not overweight

I've been lucky since moving house as my diabetic nurse is at least into the Newcastle diet which differs from the regular carb heavy advice. I have had several operations before moving, was on a keto diet, and given toast to eat before I could leave (after day surgery). It seemed to me that...

I'm determined to get my diabetes back on track

Well done for having another crack at getting back in control of things! Low carb is definitely the way to go if you want low bg levels without hunger, but don't eat meat and cheese AND carbs. That mixture will risk causing you weight gain. Pastry in pies and flour in bagels will need to be...
