Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I think that's right. Personally I think one of the major risks for infection and severity of disease with this virus is viral load. As you say as a supermarket worker how long are you in the same space as an infected customer? That's why I'm concerned because of the nature of my school...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Well I'm beginning to wonder who to believe/trust! Few weeks ago I spoke to a GP. Not my GP as that doesn't seem to exist anymore, just a random GP that they can fit you in with a quick phone call! She said that I should be working at home because my Covid age was 67 and therefore I was...

Pain in muscles and bones, diabetes related?

Thanks all. I'm type 2 by the way but "reasonably" controlled with an HBA1c of 53, down from 58 in December, so not sure if diabetic related other bits can hit if sugars aren't too bad or not. Had sight test the other day and they can now look for changes in the blood vessels that a...

Pain in muscles and bones, diabetes related?

Thank you. I'm getting quite concerned by it actually and three of my little toes on my right foot are now giving me a lot of pain for no reason at all. So it's now ball of left foot, toes on right foot, left wrist and right forearm! Thankfully the right shin pain has gone away. My GP asked...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

It is heart-breaking. Must confess I was steaming at times when MSN allowed comments to their articles although they don't now which is probably due to the arguments that started! Comments were made such as - "Teachers have been off since March so haven't they had enough holiday - get back to...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

It is a difficult problem whereas others are specifically not following rules due to various reasons. The two teachers at our school who have apparently gone down with Covid unsurprisingly were two of the "Let's all meet at the pub later" brigade and whilst there is nothing wrong with that...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Woah, woah, woah where did this come from,,,, where on the thread have I insinuated that I would sue my employer?>>?? No, no, no, the last people on earth I have a problem with in this situation are my employers. If the guidelines don't keep me safe then that's not the schools fault, they are...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

@Bluetit1802 Thank you. My work coach is calling me later. The CAB forwarded me the first paragraph. I found two/three and four online and not sure if my situation applies to either. Overall, I believe what the DWP adviser was advising you to do is to change your 'work related activity...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Awaiting a call tomorrow from the CAB re Universal Credit. Not sure if the DWP advisor last night was correct or if she misunderstood me but will see tomorrow. Have wondered on an idea though which "might" help receive me UC but also possibly keep me in the loop for my job if and when things...

Which is why I'm sticking with the safety issue and my conditions as a reason for leaving. Don't want to bring something else up that no-one yet might notice!!

I do deliver a mean PE session I must admit but even the gloss has been taken off that with my mask and visor flapping about in the wind! I feel that I am pretty good at my job and that's another reason for my decision. Being deaf I really am struggling with hearing due to all the masks and...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Thanks all, yep I'm a Learning Support Assistant so not all that important! ;) @JRT, I probably didn't phrase that well. The teachers are teaching remotely from the classroom. So I assume the timetable will be normal but once a teacher has the class that isn't in school then they will zoom...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Hi all well some interesting news that some may find helpful. It's pretty much also made my mind up to leave as today the school announced that with so many staff off we don't have enough support in the school. So from tomorrow different year groups will be not at school on different days...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Purely as always from a standpoint from my vocation I see Boris now persuades the "healthy" to stay and work from home but as Tannith says no help for the vulnerable who work in schools... In fact in the articles I've read he comes across as he is speaking for us telling me that I don't want to...

Had my Risk Assessment this morning., I don't think the Head appreciated me going to the Union but I had asked four times and nothing happened then I'm not sure what he expected!! On the whole it was ok bar him getting a bit personal when talking about how we all have to keep our health in...

DIY face masks & info on wearing masks effectively...

Thanks for the reply that's interesting. I doubt I could fit another mask over the snout but I do also wear a visor and considering all other staff only wear visors guess that might be ok. When do you know it's time to throw them out and do you clean yours in any way?

DIY face masks & info on wearing masks effectively...

Having to bump this. I use the FFP3 Face Mask Moulded RD which are the reusable ones. The second week of wearing them, (I have 5 and rotate leaving them in the garage for 5 days before wearing again) they seem more uncomfortable than the first week. Could well be that just wearing them so...

Well my Head this evening forwarded me my risk assessment and has invited me to a meeting in the morning. Funny that after the Union emailed him Friday!! The suggestions (reasonable adjustments are) Control measures documented in the whole school COVID-19 policy and risk assessment document...

Pain in muscles and bones, diabetes related?

Well spoke to the GP today and he is sending me for a blood test. Checking Vitamin D, Calcium Bone Profile, PSA and Inflammatory conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis although from my history he thought that unlikely.

@JRT Did you say that you are signed off by your GP? Mind if I ask what they have signed you off with? Hope I'm not being nosey but I'm wondering if this might be my only option at some point. I'm talking to another GP on Tuesday about getting a check up on my Vitamin D levels and they might...
