    Freestyle Libre 2 Query

I also cah Hi again I am also not very hypo aware until it’s a bit too late. I have changed the low alarm setting to 4.5, gives me time to sort out a correction and if the alarm does not go off first time it will go off again the lower you go. So gives you better chance of catching a hypo.

    Freestyle Libre 2 Query

Hi yes I have had this with some sensors. Abbott’s are aware I also contacted them. Try turning the phone off and on and reconnecting as Jaylee suggests. This seems to help. I have found though the next sensor is often fine. If Abbott’s tell you any work around please do post.

    Normal BG with ketones

Hi I get ketones easily when sick with high blood sugar and normally too. My diabetic nurse told me it’s very common to get ketones if you haven’t eaten for 4 hours plus and these are harmless. Sounds like this is what is happening with you too. I clicked on the link posted by Jonathan183...

    Normal BG with ketones

Hi Samara I can understand your concern, I have also been hospitalised with DKA. However I think DKA only develops when you also have high blood glucose, usually due to an infection. How are you measuring your BG? As you are not feeling 100% are you confident this is correct? Test strips in...

    Pastry with almond flour

Hi I use this recipe for quiche, I also eat gluten free. Might be worth experimenting to see if it’s any good for mince pies. I think my egg filling holds it together a bit. Mix 170g ground almonds, 30g coconut flour, 1tsp each basil, thyme, mustard powder, you can also add seeds, salt pepper...

    Blood sugar Control

Hi Bert My BG can go up for around an hour in the morning even though I inject as soon as I get out of bed. The longer you leave it to eat your liver may be kicking out glucose to give you energy thinking there is no food. Try injecting, just waiting 30mins and having something completely low...

Type 2 Just gone on insulin and my sugars are worse than ever

That’s great, definitely give it a go. The whole meal bread might effect today’s results though so give it a few days to see what happens. I was told the same by a diabetic nurse to start with and when I showed her a Libre chart with a record of low carb eating she backed down. I still think...

Type 2 Just gone on insulin and my sugars are worse than ever

I stuck metformin slow release for just under a year, regular upset stomach’s eventually turned to diarrhoea almost daily. I came off it and was so much better. My blood sugars lowered, they thought as my stomach was so aggravated it was having the opposite effect. It doesn’t agree with everyone...

Type 2 Just gone on insulin and my sugars are worse than ever

Hi From the info you have posted if your pancreas is producing less and less insulin due to medication (I know a few people who have been told this) you need to ask for a c-peptide test via your GP, this will tell you how much insulin your pancreas is still producing. You may be in need of fast...

    Blood sugar Control

Hi I have only been Type 1 for 3.5 years Like you I am fine on low carb but spike terribly with most carbs, porridge, milk, bananas…. Everything you mention would give me a huge spike even if I have calculated the insulin correctly. If I take extra insulin I hypo later and if I don’t it would...

    Very blood shot eye

Hi Antje Yes I am a bit better thanks, whenever I am ill I have such a problem with high BG and ketones. I wear the Libre and check frequently. I managed to get through it without calling 111 by injecting every 2 hours. I have been upping my Levemir every day but still clearly not right as...

    Very blood shot eye

Thanks I phoned my optician, who is a friendly independent, I emailed a couple of photos. It’s subconjunctival hemorrhage. Basically burst blood vessels. No need for treatment just wait a for it to clear. No obvious cause like excessive coughing or lifting heavy objects, so high blood sugar all...

    Humulin N injection

Hi Erin I am not a doctor or nurse. But on an occasion when I had really high BG and ketones (This unfortunately happens to me at the slightest infection/illness ) I was asked this by my diabetic nurse, she specifically said to me you haven’t used a needle twice or forgotten to clean with a...

Small lump on surface of skin immediately after injecting

Hi I have been type 1 for 3 years and have just had exactly the same problem. My nurse had seen this before and has solved it by switching me to silicone coated and longer needles, longer will mean less chance of bruising and she thought it a reaction to the needle rather than the insulin hence...
