Weird feeling later in the day

There are so many possibilities for restless leg. Might be blood sugar related might be something completely unrelated. I think it is a good idea to maybe check your blood sugar levels :) A few weeks ago I had something similar. I had restless legs and arms. It is something I rarely get. It...

Testing blood sugar in the morning

Maybe try using a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for a couple of weeks just to see what’s going on with your blood sugars. That way you can see what your blood sugars are doing 24/7. They are pricey, but I believe in the UK you can obtain a free trial Free Libre 2+ from Abbott.

    Libre 2/ 2+ in Portugal.

@Jaylee when I visit the UK I cannot use the UK Libre sensors, so I tried downloading the UK Libra app. This was a while back, If I recall correctly it wouldn’t allow me download the app as it detected I had a Canadian iphone .

Diet Coke & high blood sugar

One possible explanation @fiona35 , although your blood sugars went quite high, maybe because of a mechanism called cephalic phase insulin release . Very simply put, this is when your body releases insulin on sight , smell or taste of food. The sweet taste of the sweetness may have triggered...

    Trigger Finger

I believe they are completely different conditions @oconnorbp . Carpal tunnel is to do with nerve compression whilst trigger finger the tendon sheath is involved.

    Finger Blood Glucose Monitors

Hi there @Retanna . They are a scam. These devices are actually blood oxygen monitors being marketed as non invasive glucose monitors. If these so called glucose monitors were a reality the big companies such as Abbott would be developing and selling these monitors to great fanfare. If non...

"the time has come" the walrus said "to talk of many things..."

Did they give you your full IQ breakdown @There is no Spoon ? If it's done as part of a psychological assessment you would likely get the full breakdown. Most people, if it's not done as part of an assessment , so like Mensa, would just get a number. Which as you say can be quite really...

"the time has come" the walrus said "to talk of many things..."

How it is for me - I don't know where my body is in space. I cannot play sports. As far as my dyspraxia goes, I have difficulty with balance, which led to many injuries. I cannot do formal dancing, or follow physical instructions which require a sequence of events. I struggle significantly with...

Why is there virtually ZERO interest by supermarkets in UK in selling LOW CARB foods?

I hear that Amazon UK maybe closing its food delivery service and replacing it with their supermarket chain Whole Foods. It's an American chain, but I imagine the Whole Food stores would be very similar to the Canadian Whole Food stores. The ones I've visited in the US are a bit shabby , the...

Research Shows Benefits of Tirzepatide for Type 1 Diabetes and Obesity

I received this information in my email inbox this morning. I thought I would pass it on here. I have cut and pasted the entire article here , but the link to the source of the information is attached at the end of my post. TYPE 1 Research Shows Benefits of Tirzepatide for Type 1 Diabetes...

    Jury service

I believe you just have to inform the court that you are a Type 1 diabetic @Circuspony . I don't think it's an official reason for exclusion.

Why is there virtually ZERO interest by supermarkets in UK in selling LOW CARB foods?

I'm very mindful that this thread is about low carb products and not about gluten intolerance. So not wishing to derail . Very briefly here is the study around modifying some of the gluten proteins. https://celiac.org/2025/06/10/safer-wheat-for-celiac-disease/

Why is there virtually ZERO interest by supermarkets in UK in selling LOW CARB foods?

Whilst I agree with much of what you say @Lamont D I'm very sceptical of those wheat intolerant stats - 20% is very high. I have not been able to find any link for those high numbers @Lamont D . Do you have a link ? Also, and this is only a n=1 study, but as I am coeliac I have a lot of...

"the time has come" the walrus said "to talk of many things..."

@There is no Spoon Yep, totally get it , myself and my partner are on the spectrum . Both of us also have ADHD . We have lived with it and we live it. The challenges it brings and the miscommunication , isolation and the feeling no one really gets you. As a parent I'm sure you feel your...

    Dislike all food now

I feel for you @Waterworks . I'm not a vegetarian. However I couldn't stomach cutting out most of my carbs and sugars, I've cut down on them. In fact I went extreme for 9 months on a very low carbohydrate diet, but I too lost my enjoyment in food along with losing a lot if weight. There are...

Not wishing to derail your thread @There is no Spoon , I don't believe one suffers from ASD , you are not neurotypical you are neurodivergent. Others may of course think differently. I think it's more about feeling alienated and feeling different because your mind works differently than...

    Another unsatisfying appointment

@SOTR , I just want to make a comment on the 3 month HbA1c tests. Your GP is right. 3 months is roughly the life span of red blood cells. It's measuring the amount of glucose that's sticking to those red blood cells. Also the results are often skewed towards the last month of the test. It is...

Using a libre 2 plus CGM has been amazing

I agree @Mrs SLD these CGMs are a game changer in my opinion. I self fund mine. Finger pricking only tells you so much with just two points of reference. The CGM gives you the entire picture, and what it tells you can come as a surprise. If your BS rises significantly between those two points...
