    Diabetic nonsense

I don't get offensive remarks about my diabetes - only questions. When I've held my own in tennis or table tennis, what can they say? And when I refuse cakes & savouries they ask why.

    Glucosamine Sulphate

Holloand & Barrett "Extra strength - glucosamine & chondroitin complex" What I buy depends on the offers. 1500 mg (888 mg glucosamine) 1200 mg chondroitin Bottle says 3 a day - I find 1 a day is adequate to avoid any problems.

    Glucosamine Sulphate

Yes. I've taken it for years, with my Dr's knowledge, & had no adverse effects. I started taking it for tennis elbow. If I stop taking it, I notice joint problems.

    Constantly hungry!! Help!!

Hi Deniece, I find a low carb, increased fat diet the best way to control diabetes & satisfy hunger. The best source of quality food IMO is powdered nuts - ground almonds; coconut (preferably as flour, but can be fine desiccated.) Flax seed (milled) is also useful. I find about 50 g of mixed...

    This Morning Doctor on diabetes

I've had the same response from DUK about low carb diet .... "Your points will be taken into account when next we review our recommendations."

    On breakfast tv

We need to remember a "quantum leap" is the smallest possible change in energy levels of an atom. Happens in both directions all the time, with little significance. NOW, if DUK were to sponsor research into low carb, increased fat diets, that would be exploring territory that has been charted...

    £2 lottery ticket

I'm thousands of pound up on the lottery - I've never bought a ticket. :D But I have benefitted - my tennis club got a lottery grant to refurbish our courts with astroturf, & put in flood lights. Now I can play tennis all the year round - & the courts are playable within an hour of heavy rain...

Looking older because of diabetes, will this help?

I submit that ALL diabetic problems can be improved with good control, achieved by a low carb, increased fat diet. So many diabetes research programmes test drugs against placebos, but NEVER against the obvious low carb, increased fat diet that so many of us find beneficial.

    Carb free meal.

Try a "porridge" made with powdered nuts and/or seeds - ground almonds; coconut powder (flour or desiccated), milled flax, boiled in water - NO oats or milk, but you can ad cream. I have that every morning & it gives a stable blood glucose for hours (5-6), without a significant spike. Much...

Desperate and Depressed - I need help badly !

Have you got a local friend you can relate to in all this? Your problems seem rather complex for internet advice. Very low readings indicate too much insulin - especially as low carb reduces your need for it. Making friends with your pharmacist may be helpful - you don't need an appointment!
