Aldi is the cheapest place for almond flour. It's a lot cheaper to buy whole flax seeds and grind yourself. They also keep longer that way. H&B has them on offer at the moment.
Cd

Going to walk to Hythe today and check out Aldi and Waitrose, my local H&B doesnt stock any of them and I'm not keen on buying anything online, hate having to hang around the house for the deliveries :-)

Coffee grinder works perfectly fine. I buy whole almonds (Morissons big bag 500g for £3.50) and grinned them using it. Much cheaper than buying ground almond (the same flaxseed). I bought coconut flour in H&B

I buy Almond flour from Aldi now £1.09 for 180g. Flax form Asda 99p and coconut flour will be very much cheaper from a local Asian shop (Indian, Pakistani). If you have a Mosque nearby, there will be shops near there which will sell it, my last was around £1.40 for a big bag

Morning, I looked on H&B web site and theres the Linwood branded Flaxseed.. is that the best?.. I also saw linseed come up when I searched "flaxseed".. its much cheaoer but carb values si high. Could you advise ref this please. Thanks.. also wheres the whole to grind bought from?

I mostly use Linwoods milled flaxseed:
carb 1.7%
protein 21.9%
fat 46.2%
fibre 28.9%
total 98.7%

I've got some Neal's Yard brown linseed:
carb 28.8%
protein 18.3%
fat 42.2%
sat fat 3.7
fibre 27.3%
total 120.3% !!

I suspect that Neal's counts the fibre as carb as I believe the Americans do.
28.8-27.3 = 1.5

My recipe was developed from someone's recipe using ground almonds only, other ingredients I use add available. I'm currently including soya flour I'm using up. If you haven't got milled flax, add more gr almonds.

its so confusing ad someone said flax actually high carb so im baffled.. without flax your cake recipe will be too almond sweet wont it?
