    Glucose after burger & chips!

Wow - that is interesting but he hit 12.3 after McDonald’s. Isn’t any read over 11 a diagnosis of diabetes in the UK? I knew non diabetics could easily hit 8-9 but 12...

    Glucose after burger & chips!

Interestingly my best friend has been type 1 since she was 10 and eats like this regularly. I was under the impression you could do so as you would inject, unlike type 2. Saying that, I have been on trips to the hospital with her a fair few times.

    Glucose after burger & chips!

I understand. I’ve just been reading a lot on diabetes as I have siblings with type 2. I had suspected gestational and after this exact meal saw 8.4, which seemed crazy at the time (and was the reason for my diagnosis, despite no OGTT) - yet the other day my healthy partner had a 55g sugar...

    Glucose after burger & chips!

Some would argue those aren’t really diabetic numbers after such a meal!

    Glucose after burger & chips!

Hi all. I have a question for type 2 diabetics, preferably diet controlled, if I may! If you were to eat the following, what glucose reading would you expect to see at the 1&!2 hour mark? Obviously I know you can’t give me an exact figure but a rough idea would be helpful. 120g carb in the...

    Glucose in urine

Hiya! I was pregnant, baby is earthside now :) I had suspected gestational diabetes however I never had any glucose show in my urine. I’m very sceptical about my “diagnosis” for several reasons (didn’t have the OGTT) hence the question.

    Glucose in urine

Can I ask - if you had gestational diabetes during pregnancy, was glucose detected in your urine at any point, especially pre diagnosis?

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Porridge, shredded wheat are all high carb. You don’t need to lose anymore weight you just need to reduce your carb intake. From what I understand any read over 11 in the UK is a diabetes diagnosis, so you might want to go back to the doctor with your data.

    Hubby blood sugar 8.8

    That’s definitely diabetic..

    Meat & diabetes risk

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2017/sep/heme-iron-in-red-meat-and-poultry-linked-to-increased-type-2-diabetes-risk-90244842.html Odd, as chicken breast doesn’t contain much heme iron at all so although at first glance it sounds scary, I expect you’d have to consume a significant amount of the...

    Meat & diabetes risk

There are a few, here’s one of them - https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/09/170905134506.htm

    Meat & diabetes risk

I’ve just read an article suggesting that chicken and red meat are the causes of type 2 diabetes, over sugar and carbohydrates or in some cases equally so. Something to do with the heme iron. Is this actually true? If so then seemingly if you are predisposed genetically the only way to avoid...

    Normal bloods but symptom?

Perhaps! I do have a testing kit but decided after my last hba1c that I wouldn’t check anymore as I was becoming neurotic about it, so I didn’t check my glucose last night when I felt thirsty. I was a bit too scared to do it if I’m honest! When I was pregnant I never had a single trace of...

    Normal bloods but symptom?

“Non diabetic here” First hba1c done during pregnancy in a general check up was 33. Five months post pregnancy following a low carb diet (50g max per day with the occasional “cheat day” hba1c was 30. Type 2 is present in both my siblings (in their 50’s, I’m early 30’s) FBG ranges from 4.2 to...

    Non diabetic hba1c

Yes, I did think that could be the case. well, the “normal” Hba1c range begins at 4% apparently, although some sources claim that is abnormally low - when compared to that, my 4.9% isn’t great considering I eat a low carb diet! If, however, it was 5.2% when I was eating an extremely high carb...

    Non diabetic hba1c

Hi all Long story short, I was told I had “borderline gestational diabetes” very late during my pregnancy due to some reads over 7.8 after very carb heavy take aways. One being a breaded chicken burger, mac & cheese bites, and sweet potato fries. I read 8.7. The hospital dietician said she...

Gestational diabetes, now Type 2 diabetes?

Have you been following a low carb diet recently? Your fasting numbers are in the prediabetic range. I’d make changes to my diet if I were you, as a precautionary measure. I’m doing the same :)

    What is going on?

So I am a non diabetic that had suspected gestational diabetes (unconfirmed) due to 3 reads over 7.8 after heavy carb take away. Due to both my brothers being type 2, the hospital treated me as a precaution. Ever since I have continued to eat low carb and monitor my glucose for obvious...

    Control solution?

So I decided to check more frequently post meal to see what was going on, I guess based on this the meter is working fine! Does this look like a normal insulin response to you? Breakfast - Wholemeal pitta bread with fillings (cheese, ham, salad, mayo) 3 Rich tea biscuits (wanted to make sure I...

    Control solution?

I am non diabetic (I think!) I had suspected gestational diabetes but not confirmed as I couldn’t have a glucose tolerance test. I’m testing to make sure they haven’t crept up. Same meter I used during pregnancy, and my readings were higher then..
