    Thinking about liquid diet

Imho, you might have a look rebalancing your electrolyte balance. (Blood test?) Gradually reducing sodium and adding in potassium. I use salt lite which is 50% each. carbs + salt = water retention for me. Regarding the liquid diet, I’d go slowly and just replace one meal. BTW, one of my...

    My problem with weightloss

One thing that works for me is getting out of the house. I just go for a walk, sit at the park or something. Helps prevent me from grazing.

    Advice

I bought my own meter from day one. Imho, it’s needed to find out where the problem is, eliminating the foods that cause a spike. Now that I have a range of foods I enjoy eating, I don’t test myself often. imho get one, measure, cut out the bad foods. How will you know if you don’t test?

    Dawn Phenomenon

This is due to insulin resistance. Also cortisol is usually peaking at this time. what works for me is eating breakfast to cancel out cortisol, and going for a brisk walk to burn up glucose. Get those GLUT-4 receptors going. bty my breakfast is low carb. Lately it’s been two eggs, 100grams...

    Blood pressure

I still take an ACE inhibitor at very low dose. When I was diagnosed I was put on the kitchen sink, my BP was over 200. Doses have dropped as I become healthier.

Diabetic Apps / Reduction in Headaches

I use Apple health, Apple Watch to track pretty much everything. My scale and other devices are connected via Bluetooth. I use my fitness pal to work out my meal plans, pretty helpful to breakout the macros and calories.

Is the CIM really dead or...

I actually believe energy balance is correct. I also believe fine tuning the macros is super important too! It’s the icing on the cake… sorry… If a new T2 were to ask me for advice, I’d recommend, a meter and low carb 100% of the time, it’s definitely the right tool to get out of that bad...

Anyone ever been asked by their doctor how they achieved remission & felt they were listened to ?

My doc was shocked! I told him I went low carb, he said great work, now let’s check out the kidneys and lipids, which were fine. So he was up to date. I’m in a totally different healthcare system though, I pay a premium price and expect premium service. Luckily my appointments are annual now lol.

Intermittent fasting, do you do it?

I have, though I eat my last meal around 4pm and eat breakfast. I’m still on that schedule when not doing IF, but I eat something lighter before sleep , just a tub of cottage cheese or something

    Your thoughts on fructose

Guys like Stan Efferding recommend a very tiny amount each day to stimulate the liver. I don’t remember the exact reasoning, but his vertical diet recommends like 100ml fruit juice or some whole fruit. For me the question is, is there an optimal amount? I usually have a handful of berries a...

Insulin (not glucose) responses to food

I can get into pretty deep ketosis on a carnivore diet, wouldn’t this mean that insulin levels are low?

    What am I doing wrong

Imho, too many carbs, possibly not enough food. I recommend eating at maintenance calories and very low carbs until your BG is under control. Then slowly pull fats and focusing on protein. Keep testing and removing foods that cause spikes

Type 2 C-Peptide: can it be recovered?

Never had this test, but I believe there’s a study where losing visceral fat can help the pancreas.

    Did having muscles help you?

I think it helped me enormously. Originally my reason for weight training was to try to fill in some of what I lost in body fat. I found I like the lifestyle of bodybuilding (natural) and weight training, which is really aligned with being healthy. The videos seem like good information

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

My last a1c was 5.1% , I think that’s around 32. But yeah, I’m trying to knock off another 10kg, so I’m in a calorie deficit, low carb and exercising like crazy. So I wouldn’t be surprised if my a1c is lower now. Probably not sustainable, but I’d be happy if I can maintain in non diabetic range

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

I think it’s the combination of getting caught early , diet, exercise and being 40kg lighter. I still have work to do, drop 10kg more and rebuild the muscle I lost when dieting.
