    help

Agree with everyone else about the meter you're the one with diabetes not the nurse. Hint: when you do get a meter you'll pretty quickly find the main culprits for raising bgs are rice pasta potatoes bread cereals and other things that are made from flour. If you seriously want to control your...

    Memo to self

The key is to recognise there will always be next times but so long as they are relatively infrequent then one off high readings are probabky fine. If you think about it non diabetics can get high readings if they get ill just like diabetics and that doesn't cause long term problems. Sent...

    Hello

It's the carbs that are more important the only potential problem you may face down the line is low carb low fat may not give you enough calories. Nuts are a relatively low carb high calorie source and quite a few people have upped them rather than fat when they've needed ti stop losing weight...

I need some more information please

You are right that you should be avoiding sugar but there are two important things to understand. The first is that to lose weight you simply need to eat less calories. If you do that then you will lose weight. That will greatly help your blood sugars because excess weight is what is causing...

Should obesity cause a sugar tax?

Tax sugar to the food manufactuers it would make processed low fat foods more expensive and cost the food industry a good amount so it would become more profitable to sell low sugar products. Can someone get Ritz to put the salt back in their recipe. The new ones are nothing like as nice...

Dec 2014 update: New research on the Low Carb Diet in general practice

Hi Phoenix I pretty much agree with all you've said. I'm a devout reductionist at heart and tend to think in terms of the physical effects of any regime on bg's rather than analyse things at the dietary level. I'm quite happy taking bits and pieces from all regimes just so long as they work for...
