    Help!

http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Professional ... 1c-values/ says "The equivalent of the current DCCT HbA1c targets of 6.5% and 7.5% are therefore 48mmol/mol and 58mmol/mol in the new units, with the non-diabetic reference range of 4.0% to 6.0% being 20mmol/mol to 42mmol/mol" which puts you in the...

    Dried Apricots

Various online databases put the carbohydrate content in the range 40 - 66% with http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/fru ... ces/1838/2 putting the glucose above 50% of the carbohydrates. Sounds like one to avoid - sugar in disguise.

    Newly diagnosed, worried and confused!

Sorry to see you're being messed around. If you control your intake of carbohydrates you can help the blood sugar excursions, GI doesn't really fit the bill in my opinion as the difference between "high" and "medium" can be pretty small. Switching from white bread to brown bread for example may...

    Can anyone explain?...

Eating protein often gives an insulin response, even without carbs, so if your body responds it will reduce the blood sugar.

Newbie Seeking Some Low Carb Advise

Well done with the weight loss. My view will conflict with the dietician in that I would say avoid any high sugar or starch sweet fruits and restrict yourself to low carb berries - frozen raspberries and strawberries perhaps, or blueberries. The carb content of an orange for example is composed...

    GASTRIC BAND QUANDARY

If you eat low carb - let's say below 50g of carbohydrates per day - you'll be eating more fats and proteins which in general are more filling and satisfying than carbs, so there tends to be an appetite suppressing effect. Ad-lib low carb eaters tend to take in less calories than "standard" diet...

Do blood glucose readings follow calorie burn?

Not really, 4 minutes of HIIT and the job is done. 20 seconds of running on the spot or jumping jacks, 10s rest, repeat * 8. You don't warm up before running for a bus :)

Ratio of protein and fat for weight loss

There aren't any magic ratios, in the end you have to consume less energy than you use and maintain reduced blood insulin levels to allow fat release from storage. Your 20g of carbs is only 80 calories a day. Protein at 1g per day per lb of lean body mass is probably no more than 120g per day...
