Still no diagnosis but still a success!

Thanks! No exams are definitely stressful and I did have very high levels before going into them! For example on most exams I would go into them at 17/18 - doh!!! I know most people say onwards and upwards, but here it’s a case of onwards and downs wards !

Still no diagnosis but still a success!

So, as many of you will have read I still have no diagnosis of my type of diabetes. I am GAD antibody negative, MODY negative and have a low c peptide. I’m young, slim and lost a lot of weight on diagnosis. I also go extremely high when eating carbs with no insulin. Therefore, with this...

    First doctors appointment

Hiya, I am in exactly the same boat as you. At present they can’t diagnose me (or won’t diagnose me) as either T1 or T2. I am also anti body negative but my c peptide was low when I had it back in December. They have establish from my c peptide test that I produce very little of my own insulin...

    Any symptoms?

I had all of these exact symptoms too! The first ones were the thrush and the hair though...

    Metformin

Hiya, when I first started the tablets I had these symptoms for maybe like a week. I also completely lost my appetite... After that the symptoms seemed to pass :)

Why do I feel so sick?

Hiya! When I first started on insulin I felt sick the first few days. I think it was just because my body was getting used to the insulin but this went within a few days :).

    Is this normal.

Hiya, when I was diagnosed back in November my bloods were usually between 18-20 and up until a couple of months back even when hitting a 7 I began to feel hypos. This was just because my body was so used to being high all the time. As time goes on having lower numbers should start to feel more...

Is It Time to Treat Sugar Like Smoking?

I think the main problem is lots of ‘healthy food’ is expensive. For example if you are a single mother of two on a low income, I can see why you would buy pizza and chips for a meal. This probably costs £2. On the other hand if they were to prepare a meal with meat, veg etc (whether frozen or...

    Misleading avatars.

It is rotten! They have established I don’t have anti bodies but I also only produce a very little amount of my own insulin (from my c peptide test) in December. I’ve just had another c peptide test to see if my insulin production has decline even further.

It is very frustrating! The consultant said that he may never diagnose me as T1 or T2 which I didn’t think was possible. Instead I may just be an ‘insulin dependant diabetic’ Which to me sounds like. T1 ... but what do I know ......

    Misleading avatars.

For me, I am 'other' as not even the doctors can diagnose me (that's a whole other story in itself) I am treated as T1 and my information says insulin treated.... I'm not sure what else I could put as strictly I haven't been given a diagnosis of T1/T2/MODY. I'd more than welcome suggestions :)

    Neuropathy AFTER gaining control?

When I’m as diagnosed in November my a1c was high at 103 and I think my average glucose was 18+. When I started getting into the lower teens I had a burning sensation in my left arm that came and went. It seems to have been better recently so I think it may have just been where my levels had...

    Alcohol and night lows

That is terrifying! I’m not a particularly big drinker anyway as I hate the feeling of being drunk. I’m also currently on my third hypo of the day after the vodka last night. I’m sure it must be the alcohol which is causing the hypos as I don’t usually experience quite so many in a day...

Thanks for the response. They were defiantly singles as I was at the bar ordering them..

    Alcohol and night lows

Thanks for the message. Unfortunately I didn’t wake up it’s only when I scanned my Libre I saw I had been so low. That’s what I’m worried about if it happens again! I was tossing and turning all night but I didn’t have a hypo feeling like I do in the day. I’m currently on MDI not a pump. But I...

    Alcohol and night lows

Thanks for there advice. To be honest I’m not a big drinker at all - I perhaps only have a couple of drinks every 2-3 months and I don’t really want to stop this entirely. I thought that by eating the pizza and chips it would have been enough carbs to counteract the alcohol.... evidently not!

    Alcohol and night lows

Hi all, So last night I went out for some drinks and some food with friends. Over the space of 5 hours I had 3 single vodka and Diet Coke and a slice of pizza with a few chips. When I got in at 10 I checked my levels and I was at 12 so I didn’t treat as I knew I had drunk alcohol so I didn’t...

    c peptide

I’m currently waiting in my c peptide result from the most recent test where my level was 19. My previous c peptide was low and my blood glucose was high (13.5). I’m assuming this time my c peptide will be even lower, but guess will wait and see!

    Antibody negative type 1

Hiya, Sorry to hear of the troubles your husband is facing. Whilst I don't have the answers as I am in much of the same position, I recently posted my issues on this thread (which may be of some help): https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/frustrated-and-upset.164593/

    Frustrated and upset

thanks for the advice. I haven't felt sick today but my blood glucose has been high due to have to do a stimulated c-peptide test where my levels ended up going to 20 and it has taken all day to get them down again! Luckily for now I seem to be extremely hypo sensitive so I can feel the drop...
