    c peptide

Hi all who have posted on this post so far! Today I had to have another c peptide test to try to get further clarification on my uncertain diagnosis. I was told this time to get above 10 for the test. So before setting off for the hospital, I had a slice of white toast and of course didn’t...

    Frustrated and upset

Well my Libre is showing I have been in target 86% of the time in the last 24 hours and only 2 minor hypos. I also have not gone above 11 (which is a miracle!). I also woke up on a 5 which hasn’t happened since I was diagnosed. So all very positive. The only problem is I have felt sick (like I...

    Frustrated and upset

Yes, I feel like I need a diagnosis though eventually....... I’m concerned that if I go down as a T2 I may have problems with rationing test strips etc - despite them saying I am treated as a T1 on a basal bolus regime. In my view, if it’s established that I produce very little insulin of my own...

    Started Freestyle Libre today

Hey, I have also heard of people having this issue too. I fine mine is accurate 90% of the time - the only time when it is off (perhaps by 3 or so) is when I am very high/low and it is changing quickly - perhaps I am just one of the lucky ones!

    Frustrated and upset

Yes, I am going to do my c-peptide test on Tuesday morning as I understand from my last one that they take 4 weeks to come back. I guess my consultant can assess the situation then...

    Frustrated and upset

I have been diagnosed as diabetic since November 2018.... and I had the c peptide done back in December I think it was. I’ll be intrigued to see what the next c peptide test says as the consultant seemed to think my one before was stimulated as my levels were 13.5 however it was actually a...

I guess you have to look at the bright side right ! Sometimes I just wish I was a clear cut case though as it would be much more simple!

Thanks for the response. Does weight training have the same effect in those that are T2? I did try to explain this to the consultant but he still seemed to be of the opinion that it is T2.

    Frustrated and upset

Thanks for the time taken to post. Yes, to me, I feel like the only thing in favour of a T2 diagnosis is the negative antibodies..... I am unsure how a young person who has always had a healthy diet and lifestyle can suddenly get a hba1c on diagnosis of 103 and be diagnosed as T2 - but perhaps...

Yes I appreciate that you cannot diagnose, and I really do thank you for taking the time to give some explanation :). I have a question - when I do weight exercise my levels sky rocket (go to about 18) is this something which happens in T2’s?

    Frustrated and upset

My question is though, if I am insulin deficient how is it possible to make more? I am also concerned as on my initial diagnosis I had all the T1 symptoms - including losing a stone in weight in 3 weeks...

    Frustrated and upset

I understand all labs use different measures for he c peptide test, but mine was LOW (in big capital letters) I think it was 0.4 but I cannot remember the specifics and I don’t have printout to hand. When I had that test done there were some suspicions that I may be T1 in the honeymoon (which my...

    Frustrated and upset

Well it seems I don’t have the T1 anti bodies, but it also seems that any insulin I do make is very little. And therefore, I don’t think I’m insulin resistant as he also said something about my insulin sensitivity is as expected..... So confused :banghead:

    Frustrated and upset

I am just so confused!! I think it’s clear I don’t produce much insulin (from my c peptide test) previously when I had t done, I fasted and my blood glucose was 13.5 and my c peptide was low. He did say I am a very unusual case - if I am T2 then I want to reverse it. If I am T1 then I know I...

    Frustrated and upset

So, after many months of not having a clear diagnosis, I had an appointment with my consultant today. The appointment was to get the results back from my MODY testing. Unsurprisingly the results were negative (which was suspected). So my consultant said I have key factors for both T1 (young...

    Stressed with diagnosis

I worry too that my MODY test will come back negative. However, I am lucky that unlike what you say you have experienced, I don’t get too many hypos and would not really feel comfortable changing my treatment when my insulin is working relatively well. I currently inject 16 units at night and...

    Stressed with diagnosis

Hiya, sorry you feel so pants. I am also in the same boat of not having a clear diagnosis. I am currently waiting for my MODY test results to come back but on the probability calculator it said there was a 1 in 143 chance of this. Have you been referred for this test? Can you recall what your c...

C Peptide Results are in- I'm producing a good amount of insulin! Type 1?!

Hiya, my c peptide came back as lower than that. I recall the notes from the lab said my c peptide was LOW and my blood glucose was HIGH. I think my c peptide was 444 pmol/L and at the time my blood glucose was 13 (I think?!?) I’m now waiting my MODY test results to come back but for me it...

    Newly diagnosed and reeling

Hiya, when I was initially diagnosed back in November I had 2 weeks signed off of work. During that time I felt awful as my initial hba1c was 103 and I was trying to get my levels down (at that stage only with metformin which clearly didn't work!), followed by another week off as I had exams (I...

    Uncertain Diagnosis...

Hiya, very similar situation to my own (I am 26 but my height and weight was similar at diagnosis) And 7 months down the line they still have no clue what type I am :). The latest is that I am being tested for MODY - I think my results are due back in June. At first I was praying to be T2 as I...
