That old question of self testing

The best way of testing is to test when you get up....This gives you a sort of base line for the day. Then test 2 hours after your breakfast to see the effect that has had on you. Before and two hours after each main meal is a good practice till you see what your Bg levels are doing. No need to...

If it is painful or causing you problems with mobility because it is affecting your sight then you should see the doctor about it. There are many things this could relate to such as medication, blood pressure etc. If you are worried about it does your GP do telephone consultations ? This way...

    Another depressing report...

A normal non-diabetic Hba1c is 3.5%.....5.5 %. In Diabetes an Hba1c of around 6.5 % is considered good. It is good if Diabetics can get lower than 6.5% by tight control though, helps stave off complicatons.

    Pre-diabetes & 'mild' T2 diabetes?

Machinery, built to specifications should, in theory, all work the same. The Human body, however, although possessing the same basic biological workings, works differently in everyone because of all the differing factors.......if only it was that simple to solve.

    Diabetics and stressful careers

I was in a highly stressful job, this actually caused my diabetes because the stress elevated my blood sugars and blood pressure. After losing weight it certainly helped control my diabetes but I still have to watch what i eat etc. Good luck with your dreams, I hope you achieve them.

    Type 2 and motor insurance

I'm unmedicated and I've had several hypo's. Usually after not much food and too much exercise. The difference is of course that a 'liver dump' usually brings it back up but at the time I would not have been safe behind the wheel of a car !

Does one ever get out of denial over diabetes?

Hi TSP, by starting to gain control over your diabetes you have accepted it. Acknowledging a problem is always the first step to accepting it. It took me a few months to get my head round the fact I was diabetic but now we live side by side and I just get on with it. It must be really...

    1 Year in as type 2 !

Welcome to the forum Garry, Did your doctor tell you what your Hba1c is ? Many doctor's tell Type 2's not to test as this saves the practice money on test strips which are expensive. However, it is very important for a new Type 2 to test as this is the only way you will find out how the foods...
