    Diffuse Neuropathy

There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that mild neuropathy symptoms can be reversed or contained by controlling Bg levels but the more severe the neuropathy and the more damage there is makes reversing it unlikely.

    I am not Obese

........And hindsight has twenty twenty vision ! None of us when younger think about what lies ahead of us ! Even the dire warnings handed out when it could be of use are largly ignored by most younger people with the 'it won't happen to me' mentality ! I watch my oldest son sliding towards...

    I am not Obese

New poster with a few questions

Are you testing your Bg levels when this happens ? It may be that the combination of Gliclizide and the fact that you are reducing carbs is causing you to Hypo in the evening. If this continues you may need to see your doctor about it. If you are reducing carbs you may not require the...

But what is HIGH fat ? The GDA for men is 95 gm per day and for women 70gm. Does HIGH fat mean that they are eating over these amounts (((((shudder)))))) ! I am lucky if I eat 20-30 gms of fat in a day, about what I can tolerate. However the fats I do eat are all natural fats, milk, cheese ...

This really makes me want to get on a soapbox!

I have read some of the 'evidence based' research that is used in the NHS. What surprised me was the amount of 'Chinese Whispers' that occur between the actual research paper and what we are told. For instance the word 'some' was used in one of the original papers in regards to how much...

    Dehydration?

A simple test Erin. Try pinching the skin on the back of your hand. If it immediately springs back then it is elastic and well hydrated. If it takes a second or two then you may need fluids etc. It would have looked plump when you had oedema but now that has gone it will look more wrinkly...

    DLA for children

Best advice is to get Expert advice on this one. Try CAB, I'm not sure about children but DWP are tightening up on who gets DLA. Filling in the forms properly is a mine-field !

    Dehydration?

Not sure how old you are Erin but skin can also change with age. It get less elastic. Have you tried a good skin cream daily to see if that makes a difference. Once you have your blood sugar levels down to good levels it may help your skin as well, also keeping well hydrated helps.

Newly Diagnosed and Getting Bad Advice (I think)

Welcome to the Forum, 10 !!!  this one makes my blood boil ! This is the NHS 'dumbing down ' the NICE guidelines so that people don't get 'disheartened'. Obviously not worried about damage to health then ! ( Enough ranting) Below is the basic advice that Ken and I give...

New poster with a few questions

A quote taken from that study, these people had other issues apart from Diabetes so the question is,did they die from the lowering of HbA1c or from their other issues. Type 2 Diabetics who do not have Cardiovascular issues may be quite safe trying to lower their HbA1c down to lower numbers to...
