    Sooo annoyed!

So when I shared with my colleagues why I was off from school for two weeks a PE teacher said to me, "so what's wrong with you? You don't have enough glucose in your body? Then just have a few sweets everyday". Me: "Oh right, I never thought of that", and smiled :headphone::happy:

    Apparently I'm on my "honeymoon"?

As a recently diagnosed type 1 (8 weeks), great to see other young people with a really positive attitude about dealing with it, understanding and controlling the daily BG levels. Awesome :):headphone:

    Holiday worries

Sorry to jump in here but if I'm flying from say Glasgow to London, do I still need a doctor's note for needles etc? Got some short-trips booked for summer. Thanks.

    Please help!

A few weeks ago my ketones were 2.2 and that was scary especially as a newly diagonsed. I was being sick every hour for most of the morning/early afternoon. Hope you both got some sleep and sugars are normalising:)

    Morning Walks

Usually around 20-25 minutes if I remember correctly from the last time. So, just to clarify, when you exercise your body doesn't need insulin to convert into energy it just takes the available glucose from the bloodstream? Trying to understand the relationship and this forum is proving...

    Blood checking

I'm at least checking my BG levels 8 times a day as gives me more confidence in my understanding and look for patterns over a longer period of time.

    New meds regime .....

The Diabetic Nurse I was assigned to was meant to phone me on Monday. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited until Tuesday afternoon...phoned Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday and still hasn't got back to me. Beyond a joke but thankfully my BG levels are coming back into good range 2 hours...

    Still having hypos

Had a breakfast of 4 weetabix and slice of toast as away this weekend. Had 4 units of novorapid as always. Sugars were 5.9 before breakfast and waited 15 minutes to eat after I had taken my insulin. After two hours they were 6.5. I have just walked around the house/garden and sugars are 3.8 :(...

    Morning Walks

Thanks @himtoo and @Riri for advice. It is only a two week session and not even sure I am in everyday of the week so aslong as I'm avoiding the hypos on the early walk i'll be chuffed! I am currently on 4 units of novorapid in the morning and eating the breakfast as mentioned above. I know...

    Morning Walks

I am back in university for two weeks and it is about a mile and half/two mile walk to my university campus from my accommodation. What should I do about breakfast? I have stopped the high spike by taking my insulin 15 minutes before eating, reducing to 4 weetabix and taking some natural...

    Snacks Between Meals

Hey guys I feel I'm becoming too carb conscious because of the spikes I had the latter part of last week and struggling to find suitable filling replacements at meal time or if I need a snack to keep me going until next meal. I'm type 1 but what sort of snacks do you eat to tie you over until...

    carbs for breakfast

No, I don't yet. I have only been diagnosed 6 weeks and my diabetic nurse said for me to keep the same insulin dosage until at least tomorrow. But, after today's readings (and probably everyother day I've had Weetabix) the spike has made me much more concerned about what I eat for breakfast. So...
