    Overnight highs

Looks to just be one of these times were the basal needs just differ too much for a single long acting dose.... you will always need to compensate in either the day or night with a single dose..... see how you get on with the current situation then maybe consider a split maybe...

    Very depressed over reactive hypo

What happens of you don't get something to eat.....? I would assume your liver kicks in and top you up but it still feels unpleasant..... how long has this been happening.....? as your not medicated [I think] you shouldn't ever go dangerously low and so it may be a case of letting your body...

    Very depressed over reactive hypo

Metformin basically does a few things, curbs your appetite and withholds the uptake of some of glucose into the blood stream from the food you eat...the science behind it is beyond me..... Ultimately keeping levels down, so I don't know if that will do you any good.....but am no expert...

Toujeo or Degludec instead of Lantus

So you have increased the Lantus to as much as you could in order to wake up the same as before bed? A split basal dose would allow you to target overnight and during the day separately, so smaller doses and therefore more efficient... If you done that that would mean that you would need to go...

    Tresiba dosing

Basal insulin's are designed to hold you steady......so if your liver is spewing out an unchanging level of glucose for the critical systems over 24 hours, then yes.....a single dose basal insulin will do the trick..... If you find this spewing out of glucose is different overnight, when you...
