    Insulin timing

Its definitely normal to spike after meals and on rare occasions you can stay in range......but thats a rare occurrence for people on a moderate carb filled diet....

    Insulin timing

Dose timing is the thing you need to consider when trying to limit the spikes, which you have established..... going up about 2-3mmol is ideal for a spike in my opinion.....each meal and day will give different levels of success....but as long as you have that timing saved in your mind then...

Type 1 My partner does not look after his Type 1 diabetes, it makes us argue when I remind him?

Its a difficult one but he is only two years in so will almost certainly still be coming to terms with it...... You should still nag him, but learn to do it subtly and in a way that doesn't start an argument.....put a nice spin on it and learn when to pull back a bit..... I say this because...

    Hypos every day

Being on a fixed dose on a regime that offers adjustment flexibility is more likely to be the problem as opposed to the insulin not agreeing with you..... as mentioned, check basal is good........and then seek advice about adjustment of your meal time insulin doses....

the difference would be the quality and flavour I would say.....all be it subtle

3 weeks low carbs not lost a lb

What has she reported? I've not been following.... I agree carbs should be cut, but if there is nothing happening despite that then it might be the fat..... What role does the gluagon play in your argument?

3 weeks low carbs not lost a lb

on any medications......? maybe you could try removing fat from meats like pork and bacon....... any physical activity..?

    Holiday highs!!!

you should look at increasing basal during these times, as opposed to fiddling with the carb ratios.......as its sounds like its a resistance over the whole day and not connected to the carbs...

    Breakfast

Its a mixed insulin you are using, so a 70/30 split of basal/bolus........... the doses you are on don't really translate to a certain amount of carbs......you will need to observe your blood sugar levels and decide whether or not the 52 units is enough to keep you reasonably stable right up...

    Unexplained hypos

Its not impossible........could be seasonal, weight, age, hormones.....

    Novorapid overdose

Some may argue that you didn't need to go to hospital for taking too much novorapid, but if you're new and inexperienced thats fair enough.... The pain you're getting could be related to your \BG levels but maybe not.......it could be wind........so if you are really uncomfortable with the pain...

    Unexplained hypos

Why do you think it couldn't be the basal that is out......? Hypos are a result of too much insulin ultimately..... How much of a temp basal did you use as explained above? You can speculate as to why this is happening but in the end all you can do is observe your levels and adjust the...

    Hbac1 advice

You will come to realise how vague the HbA1c is in terms of true control detail......especially so early in to diagnosis...... An increase of the magnitude inst a big issue.....you seem to be keen and pro-active so keep it up..

    Diabetes and relationships

Was this particular hypo run of the mill? or was it more severe than normal with a little panic thrown in.... if it was more severe then you can expect a different reaction if you had a mild one.... I cant imagine how a hypo would warrant that response from a potential partner.... thats just...

    Question about DAFNE course

As others have said, once a week for 5 weeks should be available, although it might not be at your clinic but definitely worth asking about it....

I wake with lows, but not really the highs......

    Hba1c

Without a drastic review of your diet, its could be likely additional medication will be recommended...... insulin being the last resort I would imagine..... the recent illness could be contributing to the recent highs......would you say you've been feeling off in the last 90 days?

Type 1 Blood sugar spiking after breakfast

Novorapid as an example takes 10 to 20 minutes to get going out of the box, so the 10 minutes you are currently using can be increased and it can go by 20 minutes until you see the spike drop down to acceptable levels.... trial and error with testing...... most of us are naturally more...

TRYING TO BRING DOWN GLUCOSE LEVELS

If you aren't achieving the desired HbA1c and you are not on insulin, it only leaves the food choices you are making... if you limit the carbs, your numbers should come down and stabilize.....although medication (oral) may still be needed to deal with your basal needs..... as mentioned, before...

    cluster headaches or trigeminal neuralgia

My wife was diagnosed with TN and as mentioned above, she had to do all the research and almost self diagnose.......she went for some scan to eliminate anything sinister and the diagnosis was confirmed.... shes now on Oxycarbazepine daily and it seems to work a treat.......its a horrible thing...
