Raised average blood sugar after exercise.

Rode my bike home from work yesterday...about 10km...some of it quite strenuous/uphill etc. Left work with BS at around 5.1....check later on (no eating etc in between) and BS was around 7. Stayed for a while then dropped back down.

    High after a salad!!!

That dressing, having lemon, likely also had a lot of added sugar to balance as well....

Prediabetes Just an "I ate this and this happened..." Question

I hope this is the correct thread for this, but here goes.... Un-diagnosed but likely pre-diabetic. Been going fairly strict LCHF for quite a few months with cheat meals here and there (but not too often). Waking BS is usually around 5.9, and if I don't eat, it steadily drops all morning...if...

The Fabulous Fasters Group Fast April 2018

Good going all!! Watching with interest. Just a question as I see a number of you mentioning having cream with coffee/tea. Does that not break your fast?

    Prediabetic + High(ish) Blood Pressure

Anyone going through both these at the same time, and conflicting diet advice. BP changes a lot (I react to stress etc, white coat syndrome) but is at best 120/80 under only optimal conditions, and usually in the 130-140/90 range...sometimes higher depending on what I have eaten, stress levels...

    Read the flipping ingredients

Exactly how much did you eat?!? At 1.4 / 100g, that really isn't that many carbs unless you ate a LOT of it. You could possible be sensitive to the ingredient I guess.

    High glucose readings.....

Also something to consider is that if your body is in a "stressed" state from dieting (which from what you ate, may be the case), hormonal releases (stress) can raise glucose levels a lot.

    Research on bg monitoring

From my experience, I find that to be a total load of nonsense. I am not diabetic (yet). I am likely not even quite pre-diabetic, but I got a little bit of a scare after a blood test (which I now know is likely from Dawn Syndrome and/or hormonal glucose changes which impact me a lot). After...

Doctors urged not to overtreat older people with type 2 diabetes

My father was quite "elderly and frail" at 72, and died shortly afterwards....so I think a lot of it comes from how you take care of yourself, genes, etc. etc.

How long does it take to reduce blood sugars?

Sounds like you are exactly like me. I wake and have levels in the 5.5 to 6.5 range, which can even rise further in the next hour or two...but then drop (to like 4.5 to 5.0) around 11:00am (if I stay in a fasted state). Look up Morning Syndrome or Dawn Phenomenon...one of which sounds like I...

    Confused about Blood Tests

Hehe...I hear you. Since dropping carbs from my diet, I can now easily fast all day if I choose to so the timing doesn't really matter to me in relation to hunger etc. For the last few days, I've purposely fasted until 11:00am (except water) and can consistently map my glucose like this...

Intermittent fasting - cure for diabetes?

I've carefully read both his core books (Obesity Code and Fasting Guide) and there is no direct recommendation to follow a plant based diet that I can recall as a focus?!? Certainly, quality and low carbohydrate plants are key additions, but the main focus is a reduction in insulin production...

    Confused about Blood Tests

Hello all, Background - I am possibly in the pre-diabetes diagnosis area based on some previous random blood tests, and my doctor prescribed a follow up fasting test as well as adding a glucose tolerance test. Didn't include another A1C though. After that initial diagnosis and finding this...

What is going on? Glucose rising with no food?

Thanks for all the advice and info everyone. I'll certainly do some more reading about Dawn Syndrome etc. For example, I'm now (still fasted state as I am doing an intermittent fasting day) at a 5.2. So I can see what the "fasted" glucose reading does not seem like a reliable way to test.

What is going on? Glucose rising with no food?

So you are saying I should be testing glucose AS SOON as I wake up? For example, it's very typical for me to "wake up" around 5:30am (have to use washroom), then back to bed until 7:00am (normal alarm time to go to work). Would the 7:00am time be the most appropriate time to test? 5:30...

What is going on? Glucose rising with no food?

Possible prediabetes and I've been following all the amazing advice (very low to low carb, some intermittent fasting (thanks Dr. Fung) have lost about 25 pounds etc.) Local pharmacy was recently doing an A1C clinic and I tested at a 5.1 (yeah!!) after a good month to 6 weeks of LC etc. - things...
