Yes, I know what you mean. I know things change and that you never stop learning or being surprised and I'm just a novice at it and I will just go on learning and doing the best I can. Thanks for your input and I hope you manage to get back on track too xx

This diabetes lark is certainly hard to fathom. It's so individual that we all just have to figure out what our own BS does and act accordingly I guess.

    smoking

Even though I'm a smoker I still hate the smell of it, especially on my clothes. It's coats and things that don't get frequently washed that tend to smell :( My biggest admiration goes to my 23 year old grandson who was brought up surrounded by smokers, his mum, dad, me and my partner, even...

    Should I eat breakfast?

Healthy Smoothies are quick and easy to make the night before and store in the fridge. Easy to get down when you're pushed for time or don't fancy cooked breakfast.

Yes, I panicked ... lol. Oh, I thought activity on an empty stomach would send it down. I still have a lot to learn x

    Rogue FBS reading

Thanks x Mine is usually between 6 and 7 anyway. Been low carbing for nearly 8 months now but still only averaging between those two figures, a few 5s and 8s occasionally. I suppose it's not too bad as I'm not on meds.

When you first used the forum, how did you go about it?

I looked around and I also put a tick in "Other" because I started a thread to introduce myself with a bit of background information I think so it wasn't really a question.

    Low Carb Recipes

Thanks for that but I think I bought it to add to something I was planning to cook and never got round to it. It must have been an ingredient in something but no idea what. I don't like these things that say "can cause choking" if you don't drink loads of water :(

    Rogue FBS reading

So I went to bed with a BS reading of 5.4. Got up a bit late this morning, looked out the window and saw I was about to get a parking ticket for having back wheels on the yellow lines .. grr! Slung a coat over my PJs and still in slippers (raining out) I flew out just in the nick of time and...

    Low Carb Recipes

Lol .. I bought Psyllium Husk for some reason and I can't think what it was for. It says Colon Cleanse on the pack so I assume it's a sort of laxative but what was I going to use it in I wonder? It also says consult your doctor if you have allergies or are diabetic.

    smoking

I was a non-smoker until I reached my early 30s as I was mindful of the unhealthy aspect of it plus I tried it a few times and just didn't like it. I was the outsider as everyone smoked, even my then husband but it didn't bother me. I then got a very boring job which involved a lot of sitting...

Why are posts suspended pending moderator approval?

I think I read somewhere that there is a problem with some posts and mods are having to send them manually - could be wrong. See if it appears tomorrow x

    Halting Weight Loss

Thank you x Although I was looking in the mirror today and I seem to have bloated up for some reason. I did feel quite slim but I still have the pregnant belly shape with excess fat round my middle where it shouldn't be. I think if I looked like a stick man I'd still have the belly fat. I...

    Halting Weight Loss

Well that's another thing. When you get into your 70s you never know who is going to outlive who. Get an older pet and go through the heartbreak of losing it possibly or a younger one and wonder what will happen if we have to go into care and part with it. :( Thank you x I kind of went off...

    Halting Weight Loss

We did have a dog Mike, an adorable little West Highland Terrier, and he lived for 16 years which was a good innings for a Westie, I believe. He was loved to bits and we even bought our first camper van so he could come on holiday with us because we couldn't bear to put him in kennels after one...

    Halting Weight Loss

Thank you x Yes I am wary about exercise but I'm so restricted by the pain in my back that I will be guided by what the Pain Clinic advise. The last dexa scan I had was at the start of my back problems 15 years ago so it might be worth a mention at the pain clinic although I suspect they may...

    Halting Weight Loss

Thanks Brunneria x That's interesting and I'll take that onboard (oh sorry I hate that "corporate speak" term) but the other option was "food for thought" (awful pun) x According to an MRI scan about 15 years ago I have "crushed vertebrae" and was put on a brief exercise program and sent away...

    Halting Weight Loss

I think I'm eating enough protein, eggs, cheese, milk, meat, greek yogurt, nuts, fish etc. As for exercise, no I admit I don't do much. I have a chronic back problem (for which I am doing a few gentle exercises) but just getting round the house doing housework leaves me in agony :(

    Halting Weight Loss

I've been doing lc/hf since the end of June 2015 and I have lost weight (albeit not fast or drastic) and gone from 12st8lbs to 10st2lbs. According to some BMI calculators I am in the normal range for my height (5ft3in) and age 72. Others say I should be under 10st. The thing is, I look...
