    Inadvertently reversing T2D??

I agree and see the best course of action is to carry on LCHF, take more exercise and look to loose that last bit of belly fat. Any carbs will be due to necessity. I too enjoy most of the LCHF food I eat, especially when eating out with colleagues/friends and I order steak and side veg and then...

    Inadvertently reversing T2D??

Hi, fasting is usually between 5.4 - 6.0. I think sometimes it’s due to the cordial I drink during the day/night. I did try the Lidl rolls but wasn’t impressed and to be honest, I can be away from home for 2-3 days so difficult to manage. Thanks

    Inadvertently reversing T2D??

Hi again, Things have been going well since adopting LCHF diet, latest check up results - HbA1c down from 45 to 36, total cholesterol down to 4.1 from 5.8 (was 7.8 in 2015) and blood pressure down to lower end of normal range and I'd like to thank all of you that have helped directly or if I...

Helpful food hints, things you've learned.

Hi Orangeteddy, I did the same with my son, sharing half a Pizzahut Meat Feast and BG went to 13!! So I explained to him that if I continue to do this, he will have to care for me sooner than he’d expect!! [emoji23]

    Real ale

It’s from Wye Valley and popular here in the Midlands. Beer manufacturers don’t have to put nutritional info on labels, but some do on their websites. I think it’s just a question of testing BG levels before and after, as it does seem that some Ales don’t spike me. Knowing this now, I will...

    Type 2 Smoking

After smoking for the majority of the last 35 years, I switched to vaping about 3 months ago (more precisely while withdrawing from Tramadol). Recently started reducing nicotine level which was pretty easy. Then last week I mislaid my device on a taxi ride home and decided I wouldn’t bother with...

    Real ale

Hi Dave, I did check my BG yesterday after 4 pints of Butty Bach on an annual brother snooker match. Pre drinks 6.1 which was due to some berries in a smoothie. Then after drinks BG was 5.4 (usual fasting level). Then checked 2 hrs later 5.6 and 2 hours after that 5.9. Then this morning 5.8...

Helpful food hints, things you've learned.

I have found that cooking method and portion control work with some foods like potatoes. I do triple cooked chips and par boil roasters first. Probably a third of what I would have considered a portion doesn’t spike my BG too bad.

    Real ale

Interestingly, before finding this site, I have had hypos a few hours after a couple of pints after playing golf, where I wouldn’t have eaten for 6/7 hours. I’ll test my BG after a few more hours to see what’s happening next time I get chance to indulge in some real ale!!

    Real ale

Oh what joy! yesterday my BG 2 hours after breakfast was 5.7. Then, 1.5 hours after lunchtime Xmas drinks (3 pints of cask ale), BG dropped to 5.0..... Would love to think real ale could be a valuable addition to this diet! Happy Christmas, Daren.

    Vitamin D - crucial (with Vit K)

Hi, just had my bloods done for my interim check up and the receptionist phoned to tell me to pick up a Vitamin D leaflet and came across this http://www.diabetesforecast.org/2011/dec/the-role-of-vitamin-d-in-type-2-diabetes.html

    Greetings from Yorkshire

My Nan had the same leg amputation from T2D. Was dreadful seeing in three time having small bits taken. I’m very careful when cutting toenails. Brummie, but spend a lot of time in Leeds/Huddersfield for work and can say the Tykes are a lovely bunch!

    Type 2 Carbohydrate intolerance?

Thanks for the Squashed info. got some lemon and lime and it's good. No problems with BG levels, but interestingly I had a pint of the old Tesco cordial earlier and my BG before I ate was 7 (av. 5.5 - 6.0 since LCHF). Both have the sweetener Sucralose, but the Tesco one also has Acesulfame K...

Cannabis and diabetics - pain control

I know this thread was a while back, but I use cannabis now and then (usually down to supply) for inflammation pain, improving fatigue and use a 1:1 CDB to THC ratio so it's more relaxing to help sleep. Vaporising is easy these days, so you don't have to roll a joint with tobacco. I met someone...

    Caffeine sensitivity

Hi all, Just wondered whether anyone has notice a sensitivity to caffeine, when they got into the LCHF? At first, I gave up coffee/tea and alcohol completely. I have since then introduced coffee back into my diet, not the large latte I once loved, but an Americano with 30ml thick cream. I...

Another 30 minutes shouting at the TV...

It's also my family and friends who think I'm a Hypochondriac, but now I have found answers through you guys, I feel 20 years younger and am losing my belly fat and looking better. They won't be able to disagree with the results, but will probably still think butter is bad for you ☹️

    Type 2 Carbohydrate intolerance?

Couldn't find it my smaller Tesco store, will have to check the larger store, where I get my frozen Avocado halves for smoothies. I had been using the Tesco double strength, but gave this up due to added sweeteners and have just been glugging water [emoji97]
