    Pheripheral Neuropathy

I have been T1 for 30 years.. it was only a year and a half ago that I had a revelation that T1 diabetics can also develop insulin resistance and effectively be T2 at the same time. I used to describe what my blood sugars would do by saying I would do exactly the same thing and get different...

    Pumps And Aeroplanes

Please read the link its not just me and I've read about it before and after reading the article see that I have had lows after flying and on the first day of holiday or on return but put it down to changes in temp or big time difference.. This is my third pump also.. but the article definitely...

    Freestyle Libre Sensor And Bleeding?

I've never used that type of sensor but have been on sensors for 12 years and this has happened to me maybe 5 times.. sometimes when I place the sensor I get a steady stream of blood and once on removing it.. but I am assured it is just when you hit a small blood vessel spot on and it is not at...

    Pumps And Aeroplanes

https://asweetlife.org/what-you-should-know-about-flying-with-an-insulin-pump/ Wow well this makes total sense.. whilst I say I've never had a problem before I often have had lows the first day of my trips and have always attributed it to the heat of wherever I've been.. "Baggage Claim Lows"...

    Pumps And Aeroplanes

Yeah that was my attitude.. I've flows loads in the past 12 years between 1 and 14 hour flights and never had any issues but I did read this somewhere (I'd swear I did lol) I'm going to try and find it.. this might of course be a fake memory of some sorts but the low was SO extreme and so...

    Pumps And Aeroplanes

(EDIT: If you are going on a plane start by reading this article it opened my eyes: https://asweetlife.org/what-you-should-know-about-flying-with-an-insulin-pump/) Hi, I am sure I have read somewhere before that if you don't put your pump into aeroplane mode when flying then it can suddenly...

Nhs Applauded For Improving Diabetes Technology Access

I do not want to generalise the whole of the NHS as there are some very good doctors/consultants/nurses/specialists who do want to help and educate people, however they have little power to make change.

    Pheripheral Neuropathy

Hey, sorry to hear you are suffering.. now I know that neuropathy is a strange beast and can affect everyone differently (and changes over the years as I have a lot of personal experience of) but to me this doesnt sound like a neuropathic problem (others may say different so I am open to being...

Sweeteners..... Curbing That Sweet Tooth One Chemical At A Time

I love my sweeteners.. I squeeze half a lemon and half a lime into a pint of water, add a capfull of apple cider vinegar (all very healthy) then add (and everytime I feel like I'm undoing all the healthy benefits of the rest of the concoction) 3 teaspoons of granulated sweetener (variety changes...

Nhs Applauded For Improving Diabetes Technology Access

I'm sorry but just no. The NHS is doing a very good job of spending the taxpayers money but their interest seems to be spending money not actually helping people. This is the NHS website for T2 diabetics under the heading 'Food and Keeping Active'...

    Gin And Slim Line Tonic

None! I also read somewhere that gin is made in a different way than other alcohol so is healthier for you.. this may be debatable but keeps me happy as does the gin itself lol

Three Hours After Eating - Is 6.1 Kind Of High In A Non-diabetic?

It must be horrible to be so concerned about your child. Catching T1 diabetes a couple of weeks or even months early is not going to make a difference to the outcome longterm. If your child DOES develop T1 diabetes when their blood sugars start to get significantly higher it will become very...

    Diabetes Among The Non Overweight

Being overweight is just one symptom.. one you get when you eat too many carbs and fat at the same time as the body switches to burn the sugar and store the fat.. Anyone eating too many carbs is at risk of being T2 diabetic whether overweight or not! Sugar on its own will not make you fat!

How Do I Lower My Bs

I now only drink milk when I'm going low.. I always drink double cream but learned only yesterday this was the right thing to do as single cream contains carbs! You seem to be doing pretty well otherwise so you may find by cutting out the milk you will not have to change anything else!

How Do I Lower My Bs

I thought I was low carb a few years ago the only carbs I was having on a regular basis coming from the milk in my coffee or tea.. when I swapped milk for cream it made a big difference.. it also tastes way better!

How Do I Lower My Bs

The pastry in quiche is full of carbs and carbs raise your blood sugar levels (bread is like eating sugar so you probably want to cut this out too)! However you say it was homemade is this by you? If you love to cook you are already onto a winner as there are low carb versions of EVERYTHING...

Scar Tissue? But No Bumps? On Pump For 12 Years..

Thanks.. yeah my pump is fine.. it is always on a set change (or something obvious like stress or illness) when this happens.. After writing this post I put infusion set into my ass cheek and it seems to be working fine so I think you may have a point about the skin getting thicker.. I might...
