    Five To Drive?

It's a difficult one isn't it? I always test beforehand and I always have a spare meter and hypo kit in the car just in case. Fortunately haven't had to use them .

    Libre on NHS

Totally agree. The contour next one is really a great meter for me but not perhaps for everyone.

    I'm struggling with my diet

Courgette slices are a good substitute for leeks too. But good old steak and a fried egg are also excellent.

    Libre on NHS

I have tried but the contour next one test strips are apparently too expensive. They gave me the True You test meters and strips but I found it to be very unsatisfactory. My blood sugars were 85% out of range but using the next one they are now 95% within range.

    Libre on NHS

I'd love to try one as I am type 2 but only on insulin and having to fund my own test strips as doc says they are too expensive and fobbed me off with a rubbish meter!

    Cholesterol results

It was really hard especially since I was diagnosed in1991 and was told starchy carbs at every meal and low fat everything!

    Cholesterol results

Thanks everyone. It was a relief especially since I kept feeling that cream butter etc was the wrong thing to eat, but apparently not. Yay!

    Cholesterol results

Just got my test results back from the diabetic clinic at the hospital. I have been having lots of cream, butter etc and was slightly worried that my numbers would be up. Result though! My total cholesterol is the same as previously (April) but my HDL is up and my LDL is down. So the LCHF is...

5 variety of pizza at friends for tea ☹️[emoji15][emoji50]

I know the feeling so well. Both my parents and I were diabetic and attended a family gathering. The soup course was fine as was the main course. Turkey veg etc but the pudding was made specially for the 3 diabetics a fruit salad. It wouldn't have been so bad but it was covered in sugar syrup!

Hypo signals and glycogen when following a ketogenic diet

I don't know enough about the chemical processes your body may be going through but just a suggestion - why not try a continuous glucose monitor such as the libre to get a picture of what your levels are when you are asleep?

Question re unopended Insulin that has reached room temp and then put back in fridge

It should be cold at the very least when received from your pharmacy,I would have a word with them. As for travelling I use a frio bag, available in many sizes and it only requires recharging with cold water. I have never had a problem going through airports with it. Just tip it out of the frio...

    Refreshing change

Thanks to all. I did treat myself but only to 2 squares of 90% chocolate! Sandals or a new handbag? No think I will go for a new 3 sizes smaller (yay) jacket that's wind and waterproof for walking in the winter.

    Refreshing change

Just returned from my endo appointment today and the doc said he was seriously impressed by my results. He totally agreed that if you are carb counting and the lower the better it does no harm! My blood sugars are down, my weight is down, my blood pressure is down, my need for insulin is down...

    When you first inform them....

The first time takes longer but after that if nothing has changed it only takes a few days.

    Thank you

I find now when I exercise my blood sugar rises slightly but it has got better when I exercise every day. I am walking a couple of kilometres every day now which I could not do before. Swimming uses every muscle in your body so take it easy till you find an ideal tempo whether it's a slow swim...

    Type 2 Holidaying abroad.

I am type 2 but inject insulin and all I have ever been asked is is there anything sharp and I tell them what I have. I also carry a copy of my prescription and they are satisfied with that. You can also get a form letter from some of the companies like Bayer or one touch and just print it off...
