Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Yes, we were informed on our first aid course that the old rule of a Mars bar was out of the window. You mentioned you'd had banana, coke, etc. It's very easy to over eat when feeling hypo so be careful with that. With regards to your anxiety about having a hypo, have you spoken to anyone...

1 wine gum put me from 4.1 - 4.6. First time I've eaten a wine gum in 10 years! My son was gobsmacked and then proceeded to demolish the rest of the packet. Hahaha

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Diet controlled diabetics can and do have hypos. I queried this same question on a first aid at work course once and the training instructor was a type 2 diet controlled diabetic himself as well as a hospital nurse. He'd been talking about diabetes and how to deal with someone going hypo at work.

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Hi, it's the second time it's happened in the past 3 weeks. I've had a cold/cough virus for the past 3 weeks, had antibiotics for that and it's finally going but then on Tuesday night one of my dogs decided it's treat wasn't enough and had my finger too, so I've had to take another batch of...

Have you considered talking to a counsellor about your anxiety. Talking it through might help.

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

I'm type 2 diet controlled. I felt hypo today. Bg was 4.1 and I had the sweats and shakes, felt like I was gonna pass out in the middle of the supermarket (was food shopping at the time). My eldest boy (12) grabbed a pack of wine gums and made me eat one. Have felt yuk for the rest of the...

    Coping with comments

You're in good company on here. Everyone is so supportive. You'll get used to the negative comments. Might be worth leaving some realistic information/leaflets and books lying around for your family and friends to read! ;)

Has anyone tried Vida or MyFitnessPal?

Hi, I use my fitness pal to log foods throughout the day. I've found it really useful to keep a count on my carb, protein and fat intake. I find it fairly easy to use too.

Who is DESMOND for? I've never been told about any of these courses everyone talks about. Are they for medicated/insulin diabetics only?

i have just been diagnosed and i am feeling very, very down, confused, scared, lost and in a dark pl

Rice, pasta and bread spike me too, along with jacket potatoes :(. I'm trying to increase protein intake but am finding it really difficult and end up eating loads of cheese. My fat intake exceeds by far my protein and carbs. :(

    Borderline Type 2

Hi, How amenable is your GP? If you request a proper glucose tolerance test, this would give a more definitive picture. A fasting blood test or HbA1c do not give the full picture, one gives a snapshot the other a 3 month average. A GGT shows them whether or not your body can deal with the fixed...

I saw the diabetic nurse today...

I've been told by my now x-dietitian that she won't support me if I go below 130g carbs a day! As for self testing, it's logical, if you don't test you won't know what foods are affecting you. Unfortunately the NHS consider the supply of test strips too costly therefore make up dumb ass...

    REALLY Worried! Any advice please?

I expect it will your HbA1c they will want to check. A finger prick test gives a snapshot of your bloods at that time. The HbA1c will give them a 3 month picture of your glucose levels. Please don't try to get out of it. I understand you are fearful but pre-diabetes and type 2 can be managed...

    REALLY Worried! Any advice please?

As for the blood test. My veins go into hiding the minute I see a needle therefore, I have to get my bloods done by the phlebotomist at my surgery. She is brilliant and because taking blood is the only thing she does, she's quick and always manages to get it first time around (it has been known...

    REALLY Worried! Any advice please?

Hi and please don't panic, easier said than done, I know. Stress will not help with your blood glucose readings. I've quickly scanned the diabetes.co.uk site and found a chart which may answer why you've been called back in to the surgery. This is the link...
