    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

I used to do that until I switched to Humalog. If I inject and don't eat within about 10-15mins I start to majorly crash. Plus, with my food not seeming to work properly I'd be worried about it not working in time. I have been doing it this way for years. I don't know why all of a sudden I'm...

    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

I tried basal testing when I first noticed this happening and everything seemed ok. Well if anything, it needed increasing by a unit. I usually bolus after my meal because sometimes I think I'm able to eat more than I can lol. Do you think that bolus before would help?

Random times. Although in contrast to you, I used to find that mornings would be the quickest lol.

    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

I don't usually use that amount of fast acting glucose but because it is taking over an hour for my sugars to rise and testing between - I have been taking larger amounts. I can't take 15-20g of fast acting glucose and wait over an hour for it to work when my sugars are below 3. I've been...

    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

That is the issue I'm having - any fast acting glucose that is taken as jelly babies or glucotabs does not seem to be working. Or if it is, it's severely delayed. I can't think why it's not working

    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

My diet hasn't changed since this first started around 2 months ago. I generally eat either eggs or cereal for breakfast, soup/pasta or sandwich for lunch and then dinner varies quite drastically. I have tried looking for patterns with food, but it seems to happen no matter what food/time I eat...

    Type 1 Delayed Glucose Reaction...

Ok folks, I'm hoping that you guys can help me. I have recently been having problems raising my glucose levels when having a hypo. I've not had this problem before and I'm wondering if I should seek medical advice or if I'm just missing something? I'd just like to add that insulin doesn't seem...

    Not another diagnosis!....

Thank you. I feel more sorry for her than I do for us - she really doesn't cope well with things and it'll be hard on her to get used to.

Thanks - but they do not do the supplies I use. Is your pet a diabetic too then?

    Not another diagnosis!....

Diabetes symptoms and treatment is very similar to humans. The only difference is that they can't tell you how they are feeling so you have to watch them very carefully. Interestingly, the pet foods aimed at diabetic pets are really high in carb so we have tailored our own pet diets which seem...

    Not another diagnosis!....

The insulin in around £35 per bottle and the syringes are around £10 for 30. My dogs are quite large so they use the insulin pretty quick. Unfortunately I'm on an insulin system that is different from theirs and I wouldn't be able to treat it using my own. I wish I could!! And my vets is one of...

    Not another diagnosis!....

So back in January (I think), I said hello to you all and explained that both me (T1) and my oldest dog were diabetic. I have been diabetic for over 20 years but her diagnosis was January. Anyway, she has adjusted well and we are so proud of how she has been coping considering we can't explain...

Hello - From me (type 1) .... and my diabetic doggy!

Did you find that Jake adjusted well? We did wonder about association, but we have split her food into 3 meals a day so that she doesn't have insulin with every meal. She's never usually fussy and she's on a premium food. Even her favourite meals don't excite her any more. She would do pretty...

Hello - From me (type 1) .... and my diabetic doggy!

Thank you for all the welcomes and compliments on how beautiful Tia is - I always think she is but then I am biased :) We also have her sister who is two years younger and they make a lovely looking pair out on a walk. They're complete chalk and cheese though. Tia is a typical aloof, graceful...

Hello - From me (type 1) .... and my diabetic doggy!

Thanks - I work in the pet trade and am aware of the rubbish that is in most foods and also how much of the foods are carb heavy. Even those designed for diabetic pets are full of carbs! We have been trying Tia with natural foods (as that is what we usually recommend to our customers) but she's...

Hello - From me (type 1) .... and my diabetic doggy!

Aww what breed did you have? Tia is 11 and is on a low carb food but since being on insulin, she's a bit depressed and doesn't want to eat. We have a tube of liquid glucose ready for her just in case.

Hello - From me (type 1) .... and my diabetic doggy!

Hi all! I joined this site years ago and I haven't really taken advantage of the forums on here so I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself - because I don't think I ever did when I actually joined! Which is pretty crazy, seeing as when I joined, I was in a bad way and could've really...
