Vegan/Vegetarian Products You Love and Recommend Trying!

New one I found - it may have been in Waitrose - not cheap . Move Over Meat was the brand and I tried the Revolution burgers and they actually tasted like meat - low carb. BTW I wouldn't touch most vegan cheese as it is just carbs and oil and so little protein. I also like Vivera products -...

Not to eat more than three times per day

Fatty protein to me which I will have before bed if I am hungry is a spoon full of peanut/almond butter which does the job of stopping the hunger. I suppose Greek yogurt would do but nuts have more protein. Try 90 secs bread - 30g ground nuts ( ground almonds/walnuts or any others you can find...

    What's your alternative to potatoes

    Type 2 Sugar in fruit.

FWIW I eat fruit and probably too much but only with a meal - never on eats own and I seem to be able to get away with this. I eat fruit at the end of each of my 3 meals a day. I don't snack between meals.

Best low carb food for satiety?

    Great Desmond Course and Coping

Hi - I have come in late to this and sorry I haven't got time to read through 4 pages. I notice you were talking about fruit and just want to say that the best advice I was ever given was to eat fruit WITH your meal and not between meals. That way it doesn't spike your blood sugar. I found out...

    Protein bread

My Asda has just stopped selling the Protein bread which was 7.9g carbs 100g and 22g protein. Has anyone found a suitable substitute please. I can get Sainsbury's HiLo bread but it is not a patch on the Protein bread. Thanks

    Type 2 Reversing type 2

Your reply interests me as after 17 years of a low carb/low GI diet with loads of high intensity exercise my numbers are now going up and I reckon I am borderline to going on meds. I don't feel I can do anymore. I keep finding new (to me) natural substances like Amla which when I first start...

    7.1 Fasting

Should I be worried enough to go on meds? The last week or so my fasting numbers have been consistent at 7.1 . I took a reading at 3 hours after breakfast (my usual homemade oat based muesli , yoghurt , cinnamon , a coffee and a piece of fruit and it was 5.7 which I consider pretty acceptable...

4weeks after being newly diagnosed type2

Hi Pauline, I should really keep quiet as I get testing strips on prescription which I am not entitled to. The doctor's receptionists who are the ones who authorise the repeat prescriptions have been giving me strips for about 17 years since a doctor who has since retired prescribed them for...

    9.2 fasting bloods

Am really interested in following this thread. My fasting BS is usually 6.9 at the moment - my last HbA1c was 43 - not quite bad enough to be called a diabetic!!

    Low Carb On A Budget?

I also eat only kosher meat. I love chicken wings and they are cheap. If you are lucky enough to live in London Silverman's sell knob of bola a delicious fatty cut which becomes melt in the mouth meat when braised for ages in the oven. They sell 1 for under £2 but 2 is a meal really. Use the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

My fasting was 6.8 this morning - wish I could get it down!! By lunch time after a homemade muesli breakfast 4 hours later it was 5.4 . I do think I have got high reading testing strips at the moment next to the previous couple of batches!!

48 down to 43 is 3 months with herbal Amla

To be honest those were exactly my thoughts!! She actually said NICE guidelines. Maybe if you are on the border for Metformin they want to check. When she got the result that it was 47 this time she said that as my diet and lifestyle (presumably the amount of exercise I do) were good she...

48 down to 43 is 3 months with herbal Amla

The diabetic nurse at my doctor's practice gives me a form to take to a local clinic to have a blood test done. Why is there another way? In August she didn't like the 48 and said it was guidelines to have another taken in a fortnight . That was 47 but I had already begun the Amla. She then...

48 down to 43 is 3 months with herbal Amla

I actually read the full research paper on this which was nothing to do with Dr Greger. I just gave that link as an easy to understand version for those not used to reading full research papers with all the statistical data as they can be off putting to read. You've done well with your diet and...

48 down to 43 is 3 months with herbal Amla

My HbA1c was creeping up yet again in August '18 and I thought this time it will have to be meds. I did a load of research and found Amla https://nutritionfacts.org/video/amla-versus-diabetes/ (this is the short version as I read the research paper). So August '18 I was 48 , started Amla at...
