At last no more novarapid for this Type2.

Hi, and well done! I paid to go and see our excellent physio /osteopath clinic with very dodgy knees and they gave me a full set of resistance bands and exercises. Later found out that my gp could have sent me there. If gp could apply for this for you would this help to get you more mobile? The...

Fast weight loss but blood glucose static.....

Hi, you might prefer the Quinoa Ryvita. 5.3 per slice. It is the pricier one but is always seems on special offer somewhere.

Insulin and more visits to the toilet

Hi, go back and see GP. Unsure if you're referring to 1s or 2s but definitely need to get checked out.

Teenage son won't do his insulin

Wonder if the chance of learning to drive now 17 could help. This helped a relative with similar issues.

    Trigger finger

Hi, this is an old thread but wanted to say that 3 injections this year sounds a lot. I had one injection done by a hospital dr rather than gp to a thumb and was told not to expect an immediate improvement. It took 3 months to get 90% fixed with lots of bending exercise and probably 5 to get...

    Hyper's on Keto Diet?

Hi, if you like the cooked chicken bargains, Iceland do a kilo bag for £5. I throw a frozen handful into some salad bits and keeps it all chilled for quite a while - handy for a family picnic in the sunshine yesterday.

    Hyper's on Keto Diet?

Fasting while on gliclazide is not a good idea. The OP may want to check with GP to see if the meds are stalling the weight loss.

    Dark foot blister

Re shoes, have a look at Boulevard shoes. I have a navy pair (EEE) with a front zip and they are wider at the front and have room for an additional insole if needed. I think the style is Kimberley! I got mine at an independent shop but are around online too. Clarks Unstructured (weird name) are...

Type 2 What do you put in your sharps box???

Just needles go in mine. The test strips etc. just go in the normal rubbish. If dried blood was going to cause a problem then any raw meat waste would not be allowed in general rubbish

11 years Type One Diabetic and worst experience ever

The uni should be sending you details of likely study and accommodation buddies over the summer. Join these social media groups and you will get a pretty good idea of those you will get on with. The health setup is so much better than college and a million times better than school. You can...

    Bad cholesterol - medical trial

A relative has been invited to take part in this trial. I thought others might be interested to google it as it seems to be going on in various regions and countries. He is unsure why he has been selected and of course now concerned that he has bad cholesterol. He will decline the offer for...

    Recently Diagnosed

I would tell work that your doctor has not said that you need to test but you will let them know in the unlikely event that this changes. If however, you want to self fund and test before and after meals etc. that is a personal choice maybe at home rather than at work.

How much glucose do you lose with empagliflozin?

I was told the expected 200 - 300 calorie amount when prescribed, although no mention of ketoacidosis was made! I have also found the following US link that seems to bear this out: https://www.healthline.com/health-news/FDA-approves-jardiance-type-2-diabetes-080414

How much glucose do you lose with empagliflozin?

Hi, I think it is supposed to be around 300 calories worth. I'm unsure how this is supposed to work if on a low carb diet and whether it just pulls out pure sugar or carbs from pasta for example.

    Help with wifes HAbcA1 reading

Hi, I could be wrong but think maybe the OP was querying why the gp thought the 48 number was not a problem when it is normally considered prediabetic.

    Sedatives

No, I've had the treatment several times and just sit in the normal eye test chair. They ask you to look at an area of the room. I think they used an eye clip to stop blinking but can't say I noticed it at all.

    EMPAGLIFLOZIN & GLUCOPHAGE

Hi, I was told to take the empagliflozin in the morning. This was the pharmacy instruction too. If I took it at night I would be up peeing a lot! Maybe confirm with gp/pharmacy.

    Alcohol and Metformin

Had lactic acidosis a few years ago as a non drinker and taken off the metformin. Diagnosed at A&E with blood test and most of the symptoms listed. GP had said a few hours earlier that it was a virus. Ho hum. Have recently discovered that I do like a decent reserve port! :)
