How much of an affect does tiredness have on Type 1?

If I had a carby snack or milky drink at night I'd wake up in the 20s... The only pattern I think I've found is that if we're up for a couple of hours (say 1 until 3) and then go back to bed that will probably have an effect. If we're just up early and don't go back to bed I tend to run OK. The...

    Anyone tried pukka teas?

How much of an affect does tiredness have on Type 1?

Slightly different experience but I've noticed that if my son gets us up in the night it can send my levels all over the place, could well be the areas of it though..

    Anyone tried pukka teas?

I have emailed them to ask but I'm quite keen to try one tomorrow morning instead of my normal cup of coffee, patience has never been my string point! [emoji3]

    Anyone tried pukka teas?

Just wondering if anyone has tried pukka teas? I qfanxy giving them a go (especially the cinnamon one! ) but there are no nutritional info on the packs at all. I would think the carb / sugar value would be close to 0 but there website does say they use licorice for sweetening so there might...

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Other thing to mention, I find that levels affect the ratio needed as well. Say I'm 10 before breakfast a 1:1.18 ratio would keep me fairly stable (I would actually want to drop from this but for the sake of argument...) (3.3 CP 6 units) If I was 5 before breakfast and had 6 units I'd be hypo...

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Yeah I've looked into stacking, also got a rough calculation to work out how much insulin on board I have as well. My reaction to this seems to vary from one day to the next though!

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Yeah me too, I've been waiting since April now, I'll probably get the skin irritation on the first sensor too! :) Trying to do it with regular checks is a bit of a pain (in more ways than one!)

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Sorry didn't explain that bit right. Say I'm 13 at 11 (4 / 5 hours after breakfast dose - so that should be pretty much gone) and have 2 units to correct. I will then have my lunch between 12 and 1 if I had my normal insulin for the food (to cover not to drop) I would probably go low (in fact...

    FALSE HYPOS

Personally (and I know a lot of people will disagree with this) I feel awful below 5 and if there can rapidly drop into the 2's. It may be that once your body is used to running lower then you will feel better at lower levels, maybe try aiming for around 7 (that tends to be where I shoot for and...

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Yeah good point. I gues the best thing to do is not get up there in the first place... wouldn't be diabetic then though would we :) I've also found that if I correct between meals (ie have insulin withough food) I have to massivly cut my next meal dose to avoid a hypo (assuming I'm back in...

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Hi All, Quick question, does anyone have any rough guidance (published or personal) regarding at what blood glucose level your insulin resistance rises (for corrections). I've found recently that I need more insulin to treat a higher hyper but I've yet to work out what the "cut-off" is ( I...

    Toujeo

I was looking at Toujeo myself, from what I read it's more of a 24 hour insulin (a bit like Tresbida I think) http://www.ukmi.nhs.uk/applications/ndo/record_view_open.asp?newDrugID=6085

At what difference in blood glucose would you say your ratio was right?

I'm fairly sure my basal is correct (at least I'm certain that if I dro pit one I'll go high during the day and if I raise it one I'll go low during the night so it's as right as it's going to be! Had an interesting couple of days though that I thought I'd share (at the risk of hijacking my own...

At what difference in blood glucose would you say your ratio was right?

Hi All, I've been gradually increasing my lunchtime ratio all week trying to get my pre tea reading as close as I can to my pre lunch level and was just wondering what rise from pre lunch to pre tea would you be happy with, given that there is so much that can impact levels that getting it back...

    Basal not right or protein?

thanks! i dont think its my ratios as much as it is my starting point.. (queue another long winded explanation): when i was diagnosed at 16 months my parents were advised to keep my levels at around 7 (5 minutes plus to do a blood check etc...) and this has kind of stuck with me for the last 32...
