What are you using to check your blood levels on your phone? If you use libre you can get an app called xdrip which will show levels on your phone. It’s not on the App Store though, you get it by joining a Facebook group. Xdrip4ios. https://www.facebook.com/groups/853994615056838

    Shrove Tuesday

This makes American style pancakes, for me about 8 from one batch of batter. Maybe could thin it down by adding a little milk to make a thinner pancake. these are great and I often have them with bacon for brunch.

    Trying not to freak out

Hi and welcome. Both the chest infection and the prednisolone are likely to temporarily raise your blood sugar which may be why your go isn’t too concerned, but definitely keep an eye on it and seek advice again if it goes any higher. the good news is that an HbA1c of 62 can be lowered. If you...

    Grief and managing type 1

I just had to reply to you although I am type 2 not type 1 as I have been through similar grief. my husband died 7 years ago when I was 52, and for a couple of weeks afterwards I was also pretty incapable of functioning, eating whatever I wanted, or not eating at all, not taking my medicine...

    Update on my Journey

Would your wife be prepared to share her granola recipe with us? I buy a commercial keto one which is very nice, but expensive. My daughter in law has a bad needle phobia and was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. To begin with she used to bring her meter over to me to do the finger...

    Meals & Exercise help?

I find it easiest to eat twice a day. My first meal will usually be between 1 and 2pm, and a maximum 10g carbs. My second at 8pm ideally no more than 30-40g carbs. I’m one of those people who sees a blood sugar rise with any exercise except gentle swimming or yoga. It doesn’t seem to matter...

Help, guidance & honest advice required please

You can go for a meal and eat normal foods, if you check out the menu first, and steer clear of high carb food. So for example steak and veg or salad is absolutely fine. You may find you can eat a few chips, or not, testing your blood sugar will tell you if you can. Any meat/chicken should be...

    Freestyle Libre - max scans

There is no limit on the number of scans, it’s wise to scan at least every 8 hours as said above so that you don’t lose any data. there are also third party apps which can automatically read the sensor and give you a continuous reading without scanning. For android phones there is diabox, for...

Update on A1c but not sure if all is good

Hi, I don’t know what brand of shakes you are using. There is a company called exante which as well as shakes does soups, and pancake mixes in 200 calorie packs. at the moment the daily mail is serialising Michael Moseleys 800 cal keto diet. If you don’t mind cooking you could look at that.

    Newbie...hi

Hi and welcome. I know it’s hard to get your head around such a drastic change after all those years of following a low cal low fat diet. all I can really say is that at my last blood test 9 months after starting a low carb, higher fat diet my cholesterol had not gone up, and my HbA1c had...
