    Metformin hurts my kidneys?

I swear this isn't my head. I'm in real pain after taking it. Anyone had this problem? Is it dangerous or just annoying?

    Thinking about trying BCG vaccine

Autoimmune disease has unquestionably increased. Not sure if that data has been cross-referenced though, that's a good idea. I know the BCG lasts for a maximum of 15 years and then it ceases to be protective. I had it in school too, 15 years ago o_O But of course there is a genetic competent...

Very low blood sugar but still OK

I also want to point out that I had symptoms of extreme low blood sugar BEFORE diabetes I often wondered what would happen if I didn't raid the fridge like my brain was screaming at me to Sometimes I would go for quite a long time, but nothing happened (in hindsight this seems very dangerous)...

Very low blood sugar but still OK

I feel the same when I'm down to 3 I don't notice anything bad But doctor tells me "4 is the floor" so I've had to reduce my insulin

    Thinking about trying BCG vaccine

Google should bring up all kinds of papers but the one I read in particular was this one: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41541-018-0062-8

    Thinking about trying BCG vaccine

It's no cure but you didn't note any stability at least? There are findings that some people did, and for years

    Thinking about trying BCG vaccine

Would mean bypassing the NHS and asking a private doctor to stick me. Nothing to lose?? I've just read it shows promise for "numerous inflammatory and autoimmune diseases" - and that sentence might as well be my middle name

I'm so done with diabetes - help!!!!!

You're not alone. I know how you feel. Having other conditions is just a double slap. Some days are better than others. Hope you can get these levels stable

I think cows milk causes it

That's true and hope this post doesn't cause discomfort But like I said it goes with my other autoimmune situations In any case the paper is linked if anyone wishes to read it

I think cows milk causes it

Not sure if the forum is tolerant of theories and may have heard it all before but this is the only agent that connects all of my conditions (Type 1 D, Sarcoidosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc) together in one basket Mycobacterium avium ss. paratuberculosis (MAP) a bacterium found in cows milk and...

Type 1 What to make of my blood markers

My doc said I tested positive for "2 of the markers" the first being Zinc Transporter and the other being slightly raised Gad 65 but not hugely. Are my results common? Does it mean I don't have insulin autobodies? And does it imply a less aggressive Type 1 but Type 1 nonetheless?

Is it normal to still feel unwell

Levels seem ok, 6's and 7's, maybe 10 after heavy meals but never higher Yet I still feel generally weak and unwell. My kidneys hurt. I'm always tired and lethargic I am on background insulin and metformin. Shouldn't I be feeling better?

Is Metformin really good for anti-ageing?

I've heard Metformin is one of the best anti-ageing agents known to science. How true do you think this is? I've only been on it a month Also, are there any "weird" effects you've noticed in its long-term use?

Not eating breakfast keeps my sugars down all day

I'm not a big breakfast guy anyway but I was told it's important. However just 9 units of background insulin in the morning and not eating until lunch has given me pretty consistent levels Anyone see an issue with this?

Anyone have symptoms of low blood sugar before diabetes?

For YEARS leading up to my diagnosis I would have sugar crashes where my brain/body would go into panic mode for sweet foods and the symptoms would immediately subside upon eating them. This happened through out my late 20's and now age 31, diabetic probable type 1. Did anyone else have this?

Levels still high after starting insulin

That's right Rechecking my levels, they are stable-ish (with metformin and inulin) but then spike massively 2 hours after a meal I do have Acanthosis Nigricans which I'm told is a sign of insulin resistance normally seen in type 2 But doc thinks I am type 1 and have a further test...

Levels still high after starting insulin

Thanks for your kind words. I feel a bit silly growling as a 30 year old man while there's 12 year olds and long term sufferers on here. I'll get over it. Adapt to survive right, that's always been the case

Levels still high after starting insulin

Thanks guys I've just called them and they advised that I up the dose by one unit and see how that goes. They don't wanna push me because I'm new to insulin But looks like I'll be on meal time injections eventually, which sucks ass

Levels still high after starting insulin

No I'm not on fast acting Just the glargine and metformin

Levels still high after starting insulin

Nope. It says my treatment target is HbA1c 48 mmol/mol but I don't even know what that means with all these different unit measurements
