    Fluctuating BG Levels

Is the risk of complications not greater if you are constantly running high bg levels rather than occasionally having a high reading?

    Fluctuating BG Levels

Nosher8355, I'm just wondering why you wouldn't wish it on anyone to go from normal to teens and back to normal again. I do this regularly and have no ill effects. I thought as long as I can get bg levels back down again then my body is still working alright. I thought the problems arose when...

    Just wondered....

I used to think badly of dating sites but when I found myself alone after 21 years of marriage I decided I had no other option. I would highly recommend it. I've been seeing this lovely guy now for a year and a half and I don't think I've ever been happier!

    Just wondered....

I think that's brilliant Molly. I did become very good friends with another member on here but we lived too far apart for it to become anything more than friends. I resorted to a dating site where I eventually found my other half

    bgm reading 15.7

Just stick with the forum and you'll be able to do it. I find reading it every night gives me the incentive I need...... and reminds me that I really am a diabetic lol. I tend to stick my head in the sand and deny it, oops!

    bgm reading 15.7

I know what you mean. I was diagnosed in 2011, had good control then lost the fear factor and became complacent. Sometimes it can be a vicious circle. After my last Hba1c a few weeks ago Dr said if I don't get it back down I'll have to go on to more serious meds, so I've got the fear factor...

    bgm reading 15.7

Hi and welcome to the forum. Best way to reduce your levels is by lowering your carbs and buying a meter so you can test yourself and see how you react to certain foods. Also, have a good look around this forum. It's been a great help to me. Loads of information, tips and support. My bg was at...

    Support gratefully received

I've just found this thread. I can fully appreciate your thoughts, especially the one about "I've blown it now" so may as well binge. I got my test strips today, tested and it was 5.3.......so I celebrated with a packet of jaffa cakes! On reading your posts it sounds as if you are doing really...

    Snacks

I can fully empathise with you A. Snacking is my big problem. I found another thread the other night about cashew nuts....... I bought a bag tonight in asda and they're finished already. Yummy and did the trick for me!

    What could be next?

Thanks A. I really don't have an excuse......everything in life is rosy at the moment. But I eat when I'm happy or sad! Was just a bit concerned about what might be in store for me and want to avoid injections if at all possible. At least I've got the fear factor back so that's a start! Also...

    What could be next?

Thanks. I've been a member on here for a while and do try to stick with LCHF diet but like every diet I know what I should be doing but just can't stick to doing it! I do self test but I know Dr only prescribes it if meds involve hypos. That's why I was concerned when she mentioned testing.

    What could be next?

I haven't been on the forum for a long time. Got complacent with the diabetes, lost the fear factor and ultimately lost control. My Hba1c last week was 88, previously 75 in September. Dr has increased my metformin to 850g twice per day (was 500mg twice per day). She said if I don't get it down...

    Apps

Thanks for all your replies. I thought my fitness pal was more calorie related and hoped there might have been a carb concentrated equivalent but can't seem to find any. I'm interested in the weight loss programme you mentioned too. I'll give it a try.

    Apps

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good app with carb database suitable for use with an android phone. Thanks

    carbs, cals and apps!

I haven't posted on here for a while so hiya to all the new folk. Hope you are all doing well. I've recently dragged myself into the 21st century and got myself a new smart phone, meaning I'm now in the world of apps lol. I've been trying to low carb since being diagnosed diabetic. BG control is...

Will I do a lot of damage

I had problems too at the beginning but found that taking the tablet with food, in the middle of my meal, rather than after it helped alot and I no longer have any problems. I actually stop halfway through my meal to take my tablet.

Year to wait for BS test

I was at doctor today for an unrelated matter and asked about getting hba1c done. I had thought I should get an hba1c a year after diagnosis (which was sept 2011) The doctor told me I didn't need one as I was "a well controlled diabetic". I challlenged him as to how he could possibly know that...
