"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Me too. As long as I don't go hypo, I don't need to eat just because I'm getting hunger signals. If I get teary or shaky then it's time to find food. Today breakfast is leftover frittata, and salt and chilli chicken if I can face it (I'm not a natural morning eater but meds need to be taken...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

10.2 (10am) First day of full testing regime for me. Now to take meds and force down breakfast. I am not a natural morning eater. Bin day for us today, recycling bins this week - maybe I should start a bin-related thread? Don't mind me, I'm just trying to distract myself from the trauma of...

    Gliclazide and "skipping" meals

No steroids, but stress levels have been ridiculously high for the last 6 months so I have a strong hunch that may be to blame. I've been insulin resistant for over 20 years (I have PCOS) so assumed I'd be Type 2 one day given family history... Now I'm more able to test, I'm getting lower...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

10.2 First full day of testing for me. Don't like having to fiddle with sharp things while only half awake but need at least a few morning readings to see what's happening. (Edited for typo)

    Eggs

Today has inadvertently become a very eggy day Had 3 fried eggs for breakfast (don't normally eat in the mornings but have to for new meds) Then hubby decided to make a frittata to use up all the ageing veg.... Not sorry at all, eggs are fantastic :p I second the asparagus and dippy egg...

Why can't I get any blood out of my fingers?

Thanks! I got told off a few years ago by a nurse at the incontinence clinic for "drinking too much". Couldn't make it up. My poor kidneys would have packed up by now if I'd listened to her.

    Metformin is making me miserable

I'll have to watch out for this as I'm about to start Metformin next week. I've taken it before years ago without side effects but one never knows...

    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

18:30 Really didn't expect to achieve this 2 days running! Probably need to eat more/ later tomorrow though as BG readings coming down steadily, no idea where they'll settle - and hypos are a risk with the gliclazide.

Why can't I get any blood out of my fingers?

It's getting better, I've done a test myself with minimal assistance and even better, the numbers are slightly lower each time 07:00 Took 40mg gliclazide with food (fried eggs) 14:30 BG 15.3 17:45 BG 15.1 18:15 Took 40mg gliclazide with meal (frittata, ~20g carbs) 20:00 BG 10.9 21:45 BG 8.8...

Why can't I get any blood out of my fingers?

:chicken: I warned hubby today that we must never, ever risk running out of eggs again lol Silly/ newbie question(s) 1 I often wake at around 6, go for a wee and then back to sleep for a few hours. Can I test when I wake up the second time or is it too late? 2 I know I'm supposed to test...

    Gliclazide and "skipping" meals

Definitely going to ask about slow release gliclazide (the metformin is slow release anyway), can't believe they'd rather force me to eat more than I want to. Mind you I'm not ruling anything out these days, crazy times are upon us lol. The gliclazide is only supposed to be a 3 month rescue...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Unsure whether to count the fried eggs at 7am as today or tomorrow as I did go back to sleep again for several hours  Since then, I've had 2/3 of a stupendous frittata containing all the veg that needed using up - chinese leaf, spring onions, red and green peppers, and some frikadellen...

    Gliclazide and "skipping" meals

I don't really want to reduce my carb intake as I like vegetables. Financial and family constraints mean keto is not currently feasible. I'd rather eat less often and really enjoy what I *do* eat. I'm aiming for <35g carbs per meal in general, with the occasional <50g "feast", and only eating...

Why can't I get any blood out of my fingers?

Update After making strenuous efforts to rehydrate called upon hubby's services to do stabbing while I held my hand by my knees. First we tried a finger pad just to maximise chances - success! Repeated the process 4 hours later and got a drop 1st time from the side of a finger. Can't test by...
