Differing insulin ratios, is it a real thing?

My ratios vary by time of day but also like yourself the more carbs I have the less predictable the outcome. I thought it was maybe that there's more margin for error? Or that because I low carb, the carbs I do have effect me more? X

    NovoPen 5

Thanks guys. I've got both pens in the Lantus case at the mo but I don't use the elastic to keep them on, far too fiddly. I'd like something that keeps everything in it. Just haven't found the right thing yet x

    NovoPen 5

I don't think it's sad to be excited at all. People get excited about new phones etc and they don't keep them alive! I have the echo in blue and the junior star for Lantus in red. Both half units. I'm not a child either :) do you guys keep them in the original cases? X

    Children!!

I've been t1 for 19 yrs, my children are 11 and 8. Both normal pregnancies. The only differences were lots more check ups and I was started off early with both but only 1 and 2 weeks. Normal deliveries, 7 lb 1 oz and 7 lb 13 oz's. The key is a good steady hba1c. Good luck x

    Dissapointed

I had sedation on Sunday and after the procedure the nurse offered me a hot drink and something to eat. The 'something to eat' was a mini pack of three bourbons. I've not eaten anything like that for a year and a half. Then the woman in the next bed didn't eat hers so the nurse have them to me...

How long have you been a diagnosed type 1?

Dx at 19 so 19 years ago. My brothers Type 1 too, dx 8 months before me. He was 28. He's had retinopathy in both eyes. And he's still not testing his bloods. I've got some complications at the moment I think. Gastroscopy tomorrow to try and diagnose what though. MDI, carb counting for the last...

    Frequency of testing

Normally 7-8, sometimes only 4 at the weekend if I'm feeling lazy. But during the week I'm often on my own with 30 children so I do my post meals :)

Insulin smells of hospital to me. Or hospitals smell of insulin. Not sure which! X

Low bloods - hit buy a bus

It must be the (ironic) day for it. I woke to 3.3, struggled to recover from it. Then had a weird allergic reaction to goodness knows what and have felt rubbish all day. Hope you feel better soon x

What are the things that your loved ones say

Nothing to do with diabetes. But my mum did say on the phone, that I was a bit blunt the week before. How I didn't swear I'll never know. She didn't send me a birthday card, refused to come downstairs when we popped over. Basically everything she says is annoying me at the mo :/

Whats the story with peanut butter?

Yep I love peanut butter, I have a teaspoonful with my lunch mix. Love it. Occasionally on one of those cheddar crackers, they're 1.8 g each x
