I ordered some beriberine tablets last week, started taking them at the weekend, had the same symptoms as metformin yesterday. Almost passed out in the evening and had to call for an ambulance. The doctors at A&E were not very impressed that I had tried an off the shelf med! Mikeee

That's interesting. What sort of side effects were you getting with the metformin? Have you asked your doctor about the possibility of getting the natural meds on prescription ? Mikeee

Thanks Brett. Made it back to the hotel yesterday, my bs was 8.6. I'm going to give the metformin a miss for a couple of days and be extra careful what I eat and drink for the rest of the holiday. Sat on a sun bed at the mo, feeling ok, will keep sipping the agua .. Cheers Mikeee

Thanks for the replies. My respiratory consultant said that oral steroids would increase my blood sugar levels and it was important to keep good control of my asthma to avoid the need of the steroids. Mikeee
