    Closed Loop on the NHS

I have to say this is such an eye opener and great to see such brilliant innovation. Just goes to show you how archaic the medical entities have become as I'm sure they could of rolled this technology out along time ago if it wasn't for the legislations.

    Closed Loop on the NHS

After reading about this last night and also exploring the great OpenAPS website, i'm assuming that this solution is only available in the UK if your using the Medtronic VEO as I cant find any detail about anyone with a 640g that has this running and the openAPS website doesn't list this pump?

    Closed Loop on the NHS

WOW. I never knew this existed till I read this and have just googled RileyLink. Was amazed at your control ranges and I'm along way from that control on MDI. Problem still exists with not having the NHS support the CGM technology where I live.

    Accu chek Smart pix 2

Hi @anitas, Accu Check Software is a bit of a pest as it isn't downloadable. Their website is saying that SmartPix is no longer available and probably you now have to buy the Accu Check 360 software that is the current standard bit of software most users are linked in to. You will have to buy...

    Temp Basal Rates

Hi @hynes48 I'm starting on a pump this Monday due to my cycling regime, I had exactly the same issue as you and I'm MDI. I've done allot of work on my control and with insulin dosage I've found the following: Daily Commute: Cycle 30km each way with 300meters elevation. The night before I cycle...

Anyone knows when t:slim will be available in the UK?

I was looking into getting the Cellnovo, especially as they are manufactured very close to where I live, but saw all the bad press and decided to go with the Accu Chek Insight instead. Hopefully CGM will get supported by the NHS soon and more accurate solutions will be available, really like the...

    Getting a pump at last.

I've been reading a few posts in the Forum and watching a few You Tube videos. I'm now curios when I go to the hospital on Monday that I should also ask for Ketone Testing strips as I haven't done any ketone testing in years and was wondering if this is something everyone is still doing?

    Getting a pump at last.

That's pretty much what happened to me, I received the appointment in November and phoned the hospital to advise that I was hoping to get on a pump before Xmas but the receptionist advised this was the earliest I could see the doctor. I was a bit disheartened and when I saw the doctor she told...

    Getting a pump at last.

Ive just seen on You Tube a great thread: 'TuDiabetes Live interview with Simon Carter, PredictBGL' and have downloaded the App. Has anyone got any experience of this App as it does look quite nice for predictive Boluses and getting a better understanding of trends? It may also be more hassle...

    Started on the insight today!

Hi @Claire007, Great to hear your successful transfer, I'm hoping to be in the same position on the 3rd April and im interested in what you mentioned about using the Libre. I've been looking at CGM but cant afford to permanently fund it and the hospital doesn't support it, hence why I chose the...

    Getting a pump at last.

I had the carb course in October 2016 where I received the Aviva Expert Meter which has been a great tool (with a few quirks) and was expecting to go onto the pump before Xmas, but I only received a letter to advise the appointment to see the consultant on the 20th March 2017, this was very...

    Getting a pump at last.

The doctor discussed pumps that I agreed were good but were designed around CGM which isn't supported by the NHS. This got her squirming a bit. Unfortunately I'm unable to afford CGM so looking at Accucheck Insight or Cellnovo.

    Getting a pump at last.

Just a quick note to you all that you do need to persevere with your hospital sometimes. I was advised in August 2016 that the hospital agreed that Pump therapy was the best treatment for my circumstance and could see that I was doing all I can with 10-12 blood tests day to try to manage my...

    Roche 360 Management

Ive only been using the Roche 360 program since November 2016 which I purchased direct, but last week I purchased a new laptop due to my old laptop getting smashed and tried to install the Roche software on Windows 10, to find it was not compatible and only compatible with Window 7 & 8? Roche...

Type 1: Would you be willing to share your diabetic data for research?

I'm happy to share data after extensive work I also am carrying out with the effects of sport with my diabetes. I agree with earlier posts that those who have the access to CGM and pump technology have already the solution in their hands, those who really struggle (especially like me) are the...

Prolonged physical activity - Anybody run a marathon?

Hi, I don't do marathons but do Audax cycling with extended rides over 200km. Endurance exercises like this require careful control but once mastered can be superb. You can't just eat before you start and hope to burn it off as this will end in injury due to you blood not being able to get the...

Best App for diabetes data logging

Hi, I've been a type 1 diabetic for 42 yrs and have now embraced the new methods of control greatly taught at our local hospital (Prince Phillip, Llanelli), after recently moving to this area. I attended a carb counting course last Wednesday where a representative from Roche was present and the...
