    Fed up with surgery staff

Thanks for the information @AndBreathe In the scenario you mention about holding up the queue - my surgery has a private room where they could give me the numbers and I could write them down if needed. That could be an option for you? However, my surgery will give out my printed results to...

    Got my hba1c result today

I'm hoping to use my personal experience to try and help others reverse their own diabetes - that would be amazing if I could achieve that. That's my goal.

    Got my hba1c result today

Lol I know! I should especially when I see others struggling - makes me feel guilty! I had predicted my result to be 35 so maybe it was just the surgery rubber stamping what I already knew through self testing....

    Got my hba1c result today

34 or 5.3% Think I'm in control of it now 13 months post diagnosis. Don't feel as pleased as I should - not sure why really but I'm doing ok.

    Fed up with surgery staff

I just need to bite my tongue I guess - I was frustrated because they lost my initial blood test 4 weeks ago and kept fobbing me off....

    Fed up with surgery staff

I think the idea of booking an appointment with one of the nurses a week after is a very good idea. I do worry though that for a super surgery (12,000) patients there is no diabetic nurse or even a GP with a special interest in diabetes. I think it's unfair on the community as it's an inner...

    Fed up with surgery staff

You're probably correct there Mrs B. But at the same time how do they know I am who I say I am tomorrow morning when I ask for written medical records?

    Fed up with surgery staff

I've asked for the result to be printed out for collection tomorrow morning. (A service I only found out about through this amazing forum). I just can't see why a receptionist needs any training to give out a 'normal' hba1c number. Surely it makes life easier for all concerned?

Great improvement over 8 weeks. Your 'true' 12 week average may very well be even lower. Well done!

    Fed up with surgery staff

One year on from diagnosis and still highly motivated having lost a significant amount of weight and reversed my diabetes and transformed my lifestyle I'm finding that the surgery staff are more of an obstacle in my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. 6 weeks on and 2 blood tests later the...

Has anyone been in the non-diabetic range very long term?

I've done a home based FGTT which I passed but there was a flaw in the test and I didn't fancy doing another because eating high carbs for four days was awful! I may ask my GP to do one for me. My main reason for posting was to find out if people who are controlled just have to keep their...

Dec 2014 update: New research on the Low Carb Diet in general practice

A lot of people have asked me how I've lost so much weight and reversed my diabetes. I usually tell them I've cut out sugar (as much as you can) and processed foods even tho I'm LCHF. I do this as I've noticed the media portraying LCHF, caveman or Paleolithic diet as 'faddy.' For me, it's a...

Has anyone been in the non-diabetic range very long term?

Has anyone ever been offered off the diabetic register? What tends to happen after a few years of low readings?
