    Low carb stir fry sauces

I thought I would share my recipes for low carb stir fry sauces. Stir fry with prawns is one of my favourite meals but the sauces sold in supermarkets are shockingly high in carbs. Coconut stir fry sauce Grate 2 cm ginger root and chop 2 garlic cloves and half of fresh chili. Fry on one...

    Glycemic curve resources?

It reminds me Ayurvedic diet based on ancient medical system of India. It recommends different types of foods for different people, depending on their body characteristics. I quite like the whole idea and surprisingly on my ayurvedic list of forbidden foods is rice and bread, which give me huge...

Eating out at Frankie & Benny's

As youre are on a fixed dose you shouldn't really go for a low carb meal. Try to eat the same amount of carbs as you would normally do or just slightly less. Next step is to learn carb counting as that will allow you to adjust insulin dose to your meals

@linda321 Your diet is quite low in carbs. Do you bolus for protein at all? If not that might be the reason for your high readings.

What Education should newly diagnosed Type 1s receive?

Everybody should received the training straight after diagnosis. I think it should be spread over longer period ( not like standard full week of Dafne). Maybe couple of hours a week over 3months. Im not a big fun of Dafne as I think its massively simplified and outdated. There should be some...

Daughter just started LCHF - bolus for protein Type1

I think it depends on what your daughter is eating. If its protein without much fat you can inject shortly before or at the time of eating. If its fatty meal I would recommend splitting the bolus. Its a bit of trial and error I think

    Dried fruit

I'm afraid it is not. Dried fruit contain lots of fructose. Just imagine how many grapes you need to be dried to get a handful of raisins

Comparing MDI and pumping in advance of the REPOSE study

Ive just had my HbA1c done and its down to 49 from 69 pre pump. In my case the pump plus libre (I'm on my third sensor now) proved to work very well. I feel quite confident that with libre I will bring it even lower. Pump is a great tool and I definitely wouldnt achieve the same results on MDI...

If you're on MDI, calculating 50% protein and 10% fat should work well

Question on handling postprandial hyperglycemia. (26.01.2016)

Timing as @tim2000s said is important. You could also inject and split your lunch into two parts if you can (if you eat fruit with your lunch eat it an hour later). You can do with extra snack as you say but I would prefer to save a bit of my lunch for later (which is actually the same but you...
