Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please?

Almond flour spikes my BG. Don't know why.

Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please?

I would avoid blueberries. Blackberries or rasperies are much lower in carbs

    Type 2 HbA1c 40 to 48

Do you have a BG test meter and if so are you using it Pinky? I test myself regularly to see which foods raise my BG. I test just before I have a meal and then again 2 hours after the first bite. I have found that potatoes, rice, pasta and bread are an absolute no,no, whereas other veg, plums...

Will I definitely get type 2 diabetes ?

Chill-out. You seem to be doing all the right things to look after your health. Remember, even if you are destined to get Type 2 in the future, the longer you can delay its onset the less likely you are to get the nasty side effects. Keep up your healthy lifestyle, check your BG from time to...

    Advice

Although diabetes does run in families, your son is statistically unlikely to get it. The only test that would tell him for certain is an HBa1c and I doubt his doctor would agree to test him unless he showing symptoms. so please tell him to stop worrying.

    Feeling terrible in the mornings

No two diabetics respond in the same way, so you would need to experiment a bit. The idea is the convince your liver that you BG is okay in the morning, so it doesn't need to boost the BG level. I would try good carbs like brown pasta or wholemeal bread, but be prepared to experiment. Be...

    Feeling terrible in the mornings

Have you tried eating something with carbs before you go to bed. Also it's worth checking your BS levels at regular intervals during the night. There are various issues that can cause high morning readings, so I would take your results to a diabetes expert.

Can slight changes in eye test be undone

My advice is to keep working to control your blood glucose, but stop worrying about your eyes. I have material damage to one of my eyes, but the eye doctors have treated it very effectively and I can still see well enough to drive without glasses with my bad eye (the other is healthy)...

Walking and finding groups to walk with

I'm 64 and still an active rugby referee. Unfortunately years of doing sport didn't prevent me from becoming type 2. Life can be a bum:***:

Type 2 Hypo Type 2 diet controlled

Very well done for getting things under control. We aren't qualified to give medical advice on this forum, but I certainly think you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Hypos are much rarer with T2 than T1, but they are just as dangerous. If you get warning of a hypo then don't wait, get...

    Crestor

My cholesterol test came back in the 'just healthy' range and my HBA1c reading was 40, but my diabetic nurse told me that all T2 patients should be on statins for life regardless of their HBa1C results. I refused statins and this has been noted on my medical notes.

    Nervous wait for my 1c

If you test regularly at different times of the day and you have an average BG level of 5.8, you should get a good HBa1C result. If so, please let us know what you have done to reduce your levels.

    Newly diagnosed pensioner

You have posted in this forum and shown that you want to get your blood glucose under control. Not many newly diagnosed people do that, so I'm confident you will succeed. As others have said your blood sugar level isn't too high, so action now should help you avoid the hideous side effects of...

    HBA1C TEST

In simple terms the HBA1c test measures how much sugar has stuck to your blood cells in the last three months. (Red cells are fully replaced every three months, hence it gives you a 3 month average reading). Eating one piece of cake will cause a minute amount of sugar to stick, but it is...

    Positives

I was struggling to do up 36" jeans last November. Now I comfortably fit into 32" and I haven't done that for over 45 years. The best thing is that that I never feel hungry on my LCHF diet.

What is the relationship between blood pressure and diabetes?

Overweight and unfit people are more prone to all sorts of medical issues including diabetes and high blood pressure. If we control our diabetes through good diet and exercise, we tend to lower our blood pressure too. I got all sorts of benefits including lower blood pressure, improved...
