Diabetic, but only in the morning ?

If you are not on medications for T2, then what impact will it have if your GP acknowledges your inconsistent evidence of diabetes? If you have a decent diet, feel healthy, and other metabolic markers are normal, then I wouldn't worry too much.

    The insulin/heart connection

I am with you. Insulin resistance ran over my dog and drank the beer from my fridge. But seriously, I'm becoming increasingly convinced by the evidence, but I'm worried I'm seeking out information that agrees with my beliefs, so I need to be careful I don't become a conspiracy theorist.

    Adrift!

You CAN eat whatever you want, but there are implications, so you need to figure out what is best for you. I will also say it seems that we are at a time in our understanding of T2, where there's an orthodoxy, and the orthodoxy is being upset by a new wave of research and understanding. So...

Added Low carb to 16:2 this week.

Thanks..that makes sense. I'm new to it and thought I might be missing some jargon.

    Farmed salmon vs wild salmon?

I don't mean to presume that beef is unhealthy...more that the specific aspects of salmon that make it particularly healthy are not prominent in beef. That is the omega fat profile. Of course that raises the question of grass-fed beef vs corn fed beef, so if you want to compare products...

    Farmed salmon vs wild salmon?

Wondering if anybody around here knows the answer here. I know farmed salmon is not nearly as good for you as wild because farmed salmon is fed a **** diet high in corn meal. But just how much less good is farmed vs wild? Is it worth having as a healthy alternative to meats? I have read...

Added Low carb to 16:2 this week.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you. I have to ask though...what is 16:2? I can't quite decipher that one.

Should I be happy or sad? T2 and changing tastes...

I wish bread would eventually be off-putting to me. I miss it so much. A good caraway rye toasted with butter with my bacon and eggs. Omelette sandwhich... Gyro on pita. Yeah, much harder to kick than sugar. As for the espresso machine.. if the dairy is getting sweet, why not try...

    Breakfast Ideas

Lol. You are technically correct, but when you put it our on a public forum for discussion, you are inviting opinion. As to the original question, if you like plain yogurt, a 10%mf plain Greek or Mediterranean yogurt has about the right macros for a low carb or even keto diet. That's my...

    New to 16:8

I'm relatively new to IF myself, and I'm also Type 2, so I don't think my experience is complete enough to be relevant to you, but as a T2 I saw some pretty significant early success in weight loss. I'm doing LCHF along with it so it's hard to pull the strands apart and say what's what. But...

    Blood ketone meter anyone?

The blood meters seem very difficult to find here in Canada. None at the local pharmacy, and even amazon in Canada doesn't seem to have any on offer. I wonder if they're not approved for use here yet.

    Still learning BG testing

Most people (myself included) would recommend eating low carb for T2 diabetes. If you buy that, then porridge as not a good choice, and you'd be better off eating bacon and eggs. But we all need to choose our own path.

    Blood Sugar Spike

I'm not expert but here's my understanding. The "no more than 2" rise criteria is about how your body responds to the food intake. A rise of more than 2 means your body is not dealing with the incoming macros quickly enough and that's not good, so the glucose lingers in your blood for far too...

    Trying IF

Week 3 was mostly 20:4. I didn't do any longer fasts than that, although I had intended to, so I did not really follow through on my plan. I think I needed a little more time to adapt to low-carb in order to reduce hunger. BG readings were all over the map...fasting levels as low as 4.4, and...

Zombie brain and other low carb options

I love roasted cauliflower, but never really thought of mashing at after roasting. That's something I may try.

Zombie brain and other low carb options

I've never had celeriac, but have heard it;'s decent. For mash I like cauliflower mash. It';s a little wet compared to mashed potato...or at least I haven;'t found a way to get a smooth mash without added liquid. For noodles, I see 2 sub-cases. For spaghetti I have not had anything to date...

    I just need help!

I can relate. I have dithered about getting serious to deal with my T2. I know low-carb works. It has turned around so many people, many of whom share their experiences here. The latest research suggests T2 may be reversible for many or most people, but you need to make a real change. You...

Artificial sweeteners, do they effect BG and/or insulin?

Some do and some don't. I always have higher BG next morning if I have ace-k the evening before. Erythritol apparently does not move your insulin or glucose. Not sure about all the others.

Reversing hardening of the arteries in diabetes?

Biochemist Patrick Theut claims to have reversed calcification of his coronary arteries through nutrition and supplementation. Here's a video of Ivor Cummins and him talking about it. Not sure how legit.

What can I do with greek yogurt?

Fortunately for me I love the taste of plain greek yoghurt, and I think any kind of sweetening actually makes it worse. So I found a very delicious 10%mf "Mediterranean" style yoghurt, and I have 6 500g containers in my fridge now. I am happy.
