    High readings

Been on that merry go round. Knock bgls down with boluses for a day, decide something else is happening and up your basal. Get it under vague control in a couple of days then everything goes back to normal and you're left with hypos for 24 hours till you get your basal back down. Just follow the...

All I can suggest is to do your last bgl before you brush your teeth. It's so annoying.

    Help! Lantus Advice Needed Please.

Excellent work @Eldorado, I to have the problem that Lantus doesn't last 24 hours and had to split doses. I don't understand why they put T1s on single evening basal doses, it means the insulin peak will be in the middle of the night which is the worst time to have hypos.

    Clinical Trial

My 2 daughters (13,15) have been in this trial for a few years. In the beginning I just told them that it may help find a cure and they were happy to help. However, I wouldn't push them into it if they didn't want to. We all know the signs of T1 now so I'm sure we'd pick it up pretty early if...

I remember having a drunken conversation with a friend 30 years ago. I was surmising that I could stop taking insulin and control bgls with whiskey. I then realised it would be to expensive...:)

    Accu Chek Mobile

My wife (non diabetic) wanted me to test her blood the other day, only got a small drop of blood, did the test anyway and got 6.3 (had her worried). Did the test again with full drop and got 4.7.

    Correction doses

For me, 0.5u corrects 1 mmol. As 0.5 is the minimum dosage for my pen, I correct whenever I am 1+ mmol off target and don't have insulin on board. There are some great apps around to help with calculations, the user interface in apps is often a lot better than the BGMs. The best one I've found...

Had an appointment with Diabetic Nurse Specialist and Dietician today......

The dose adjustment part of DAFNE is great, every T1 should do it. The FNE is debatable.

    type 1, alpha cell function?

Interesting area, one I've just started looking at but haven't found any good solutions. I find that when I attempt to stay in ketosis, my bgls seem to rise to 7s & 8s for no reason and I have to constantly correct. I find it to difficult to manage and now have around 60-80g of carbs a day to...

    What's your diet and hba1c

According to Dr. Richard Bernstein a normal, healthy, thin, non-diabetic A1C will be within the range of 4.2-4.6 (well below 30). 30 is in the middle of the range http://www.diabetes.co.uk/what-is-hba1c.html has for non diabetics. It's what I consider low. For the purpose of this poll, I set...
