Hi all
I purchased a Freestyle Libre 2 monitor earlier this week (mainly because a month ago I decided to stop taking my Metformin) and one thing I’m noticing is when I wake up at 7:30-8:00am my blood sugar goes from say 5-6.5 to around 8 or so by 9am - and I’ve eaten nothing. I assume this is...
I was on this forum a year ago - just before an op where they suddenly took a test and decided I was borderline diabetic and needed it under control before they'd go ahead. So I cut back - I mean REALLY cut back on carbs, lost a stone and generally went super healthy. Then the callback after a...
I have a really sweet tooth and although my dieting is relatively recent so I'm quite happy to go without (ish) to keep to my diet, I would really like to know what everyone likes to eat for Dessert or a special treat which is fairly responsible and not likely to massively spike your BS and low...
Most of us at some point start a "hobby" - so whether you like DIY or painting or reading just list it here (ideally with a photo) as it's nice to share something about ourselves with each other :) - it will be fun! If you don't have a photo don't worry - just tell us about it. To kick it off...
One of the girls at work was curious about her BG levels and isn't currently feeling 100% - very tired and was off last week with some kind of cold virus (a lot of bugs going around at the moment). I tested her blood for her and it was so runny that it just bled across her fingers like her hands...
Water - when I drink water I don't find it thirst quenching really - as soon as I drink it it makes the back of my throat feel slightly dusty dry. Anyone else have this experience. I used to find cold milk slightly more thirst quenching or cold tea or coffee.
I also find it easier to drink...
I just had the good news that I'm pre-diabetic yesterday - so tonight I agreed with hubby to have a small doner kebab. I didn't have the pitta and ate 3/4 of the meat with half of the veg twigging half way through it had mint sauce on it so didn't finish it :-S The highest reading I've had...
I'm so happy. My HbA1c blood test yesterday came through already and the doctor says it's 44. I thought my last reading was 51 but she tells me it was 50 - but that aside....apparently they take a combination of the 2 results which means I'm just short of being Diabetes Type 2 now. It also means...
Last night I had my lowest reading ever at 10pm of 6.3 a few hours after eating. I was so excited I couldn't wait to see what it was this morning. So after eating nothing else I woke up this morning and took my reading at 7am. It was 7.1 ?? Higher!
Then I decided to have half a protein roll...
I've read that many people reuse their lancets and although it seems to me to be a bad idea my lancets didn't turn up last week so I cleaned off my needle today with tcp and used it twice as I only have 1 left.
How many people here reuse their lancets out of interest?
I just wondered if some of you have been through this. I'm newly diagnosed with Type 2 and I've been trying to tackle my bad diet and have lost 13lbs these past 2 weeks.
On Friday he started talking about 'I'll fetch us a kebab' or how about 'fish and chips'...
I felt like slapping him...
Hi all
I'm newly diagnosed T2 after a surprise reading of 51.
My codefree arrived at lunchtime today so when I got home I got down to reading the instructions and did a test at 10pm just over 2 hours after eating and got 7.7. Ate something at 10:30pm and wondered what it would read and it...
