    Jelly Sweets & Insulin

My mind has gone blank. I attended a course similar to Daphne last year and it went through all the usually carb counting and foods to inject for etc. One thing I've gone blank on is Jelly Sweets, like Haribo. I only ever use these to treat hypos but every now and then would like a treat of...

High BG levels during the night.

Good morning I wonder if anyone could shed some light. I am on my third week of the freestyle libre which is great, it's so helpful with understanding which way your Bg levels are going etc. It has also explained alot of me since using it. Prior to using I would often wake with bg level of say...

    Spikes after meal

Afternoon lovelies. How do you prevent spikes in bg levels after eating? My dsn said this is normal but I'd love to be able to stay in range after eating a little more. I inject pre-meal. There are certain food that make my bgl spike more, for example cereal - anyone else? xo Scarlett

Free Style Libre - Smart Watch Scanning

Does anyone know if you can use a Smart Watch to directly scan a freestyle libre? If this is possible which smart watches are best to do this? I'm guessing the watch would have to have NFC like a smart phone does. The only info I can find include a MaioMaio to get continuous bg results. Thanks

    Type 1 Sickness bug

Last night/this morning I have been sick 6 times. I haven't eaten anything and only had a sip of original Lucozade thay my OH got me. I have been testing my glucose levels and they are fairly high, 14.5mmols being the highest after one small beaker of Lucozade. I was only diagnosed being a T1D...

    Type 1 Sugar level spikes

I've been T1D since early Sept '17. My "honeymoon" period ended in January I think as I noticed my sugar levels were getting higher even though my diet remained the same. Over the last week I have been getting quite high spikes and sugar levels that don't seem to come down. Is this quite...

Can you become type 1 after being type 2 for 15 years

So I am type one and was diagnosed 5 months ago at the age of 26. My dad is type 2 and was diagnosed around 15 years ago, his diabetes has never been well concerned with his last HBA1C at 86. My first hbac1 was 56 (my diabetic nurse was really pleased) After saying to dad he needs to change...

    Honey mood stage.

Good evening :) I hope you are all having a great week. How long did your "honeymoon stage" go on for? I was diagnosed with type 1 back in early September this year and going through it, so sugar levels are dropping quite low which I was told to expect, however I really try to keep it above...

    Good afternoon!

Can anyone point me in the right direction for some information and good reads on learning to understand blood sugar reading and how different food make levels go up. I have no idea about the whole mmol. I've only been diabetic for 2 months. Thank you :)

    Type 1 HYPO fix.

Can anyone tell me if Dextro Energy Tablets are suitable to treat hypos? I'm looking for something that can be used that isn't a food as being a dental nurse I'm not allowed food on me during work hours, I'm having to sneak some Haribo(tiny pack) down my throat in the toilet when I can but I...

    Type 1 T1D

So 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 26 years old. Id only been having symptoms for around 3 weeks prior to diagnosis. Since being diagnosed I've had quite a few people question this as they seem to think I'm maybe too old to be diagnosed with Type 1. Is there anyone else out...

Type 1 Day 9 of T1D - back to work and eyesight.

So it was my first day back to work as a dental nurse today and I had my first hypo. My BSL fell to 4.4 which has been the lowest yet. I had my breakfast at half 6 this morning along with my first dose of insulin of the day. Hypo was at 12.30 and I was due to take my lunch break at 1. I was...

Newly diagnosed advice wanted for a night out.

I was diagnosed with T1D last week. I'm handling everything pretty well and getting into the swing of injecting and checking BSL. I'm yet to see a diabetic nurse for a long chat. My other half turns 30 at the weekend and we are suppose to be going out. I would usually drink fruit cider or...
