    Fed Up

I was diagnosed Type 1 just under a year ago, a large portion of time I've been in honeymoon. I still am in honeymoon but it's starting to end (reporting significantly higher blood sugars now). I'm 35 & I'm fed up. I underestimate my insulin requirements often (all this time honeymooning is the...

    Pumps and D.L.A?

In some parts I would agree but how **** greedy do you have to be to try and get MORE money for a manageable illness. We already get free prescriptions ***.

    Pumps and D.L.A?

I have Buerger's disease, I've been diagnosed this for about 2.5 years with the symptoms for 3.5 years. I'm 35. Last November I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Buerger's disease is a rare circulatory condition, one of the main symptoms is known as intermittent claudication. This means that...

    OneTouch verio IQ

I had one, I never trusted it. It gave wildly innacurate results. Two consecutive tests could differ by up to 6.

    Weird...?

Oh, I just assumed that it was coming to an end as my sugars have been generally higher lately. Does that explain why my sugars where lower when I didn't take my insulin because that still seems strange to me.

    Weird...?

I was diagnosed in November last year and my honeymoon phase is slowly but gradually coming to an end (feel like I have a few months left of it). However, I was without insulin last week for over 24 hours but I ate normally because I'm greedy. I noticed my blood sugars were lower without insulin...

Diabetes in Films and on TV

I saw that (emmerdale) today, she was going on a picnic with her new boyfriend. In a later scene she was crying to her friend that everything was fine until he got the cakes out. Apparently she hasn't told him that dark dirty secret.

They took my glucose meter off me, I guess they must have been afraid of suicide by lancing device :dead:. I basically harassed them constantly to check my sugars with their machine so they gave me mine back. As for the diabetic specialist, she arrived on the day I was discharged.

Type 1s: What stupid things have people said to you?

Another thing, I ended up on a psychiatric ward due to depression & due to being diagnosed only a few months back, I was prescribed 12 units of novorapid per meal & 14 units of levemir on a night. The ward nurses wouldn't let me inject less than 12 units but my honeymoon phase had just started...

Type 1s: What stupid things have people said to you?

I'm type 1. I was in hospital getting an ulcer on my foot looked at, they gave me food so I checked my sugars. The old man in the bed opposite piped up loudly, "You don't need to worry about what the numbers say on that thing!" Turns out (from overhearing his consultation) that he was a long...

    Honeymoon Period

I don't even know where my pancreas is located. I'm guessing somewhere around the middle below the heart. I know that since restarting my insulin (due to honeymoon starting to end) has made me feel like ****.

    Insulin Pens

I'm glad I was only diagnosed last year. All this stuff looks barbaric! Have to admit that I prefer pushing the lancet in myself rather than use a device. I have tough skin from playing guitar and manually using the lancet is much more accurate & pain free.

    Honeymoon Ending Help

Hi, I was diagnosed type 1 in November last year (aged 34). In February this year my honeymoon phase came on, I didn't even need insulin from February until June (although I probably should have started injecting early june, sugars started to rise again then). The past few weeks I've been...
