    Minimed Medtronic app

Hi @maryrachel I've been having the same issues with the app, only since my Android updated overnight. I've done everything possible to try and reconnect, but the app is now saying my phone is not compatible. I've tried calling Medtronic, but they are too busy! Have you managed to resolve...

How do fluctuating sugars make you feel?

I've been riding the hyperglycemia wave all day today (above 22) and I have no symptoms! This has been my avg. daily reading for a few weeks now. I am sooooooo over this dia-bully beating! :banghead: I think my body is used to these hypers....hence, the lack of symptoms :arghh: :dead: I think...

Type 1 Diabetes and bariatric surgery

Hello @Brighton T1 I don't usually post on here (haven't for a while now), but I read posts every now and again and happened to stumble across yours! I have been T1 for over 15 years now and had a sleeve gastrectomy nearly 6 years ago. I had a BMI of 39.6 at the time and lost 8 stone within 10...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Hi @ickihun, funny you should ask as I was just looking at my old weight loss charts from my post surgery weeks in 2014. I kept my records for all weekly weight loss until February 2015, when I hit my goal and lost 8 stone! I dropped 8lbs in the first week, 7lbs in the second week, then...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

That is a huge accomplishment for only having surgery last week. You're not even 1 week post op and already you have lost so much. Doing good @ickihun x

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Wow @ickihun, you are doing so well with your tolerance of foods/liquids. I was only allowed liquids for the first 4 weeks, then pureed/sloppy foods for another 4 weeks, then "lumpy" foods for the next 4 weeks, then normal diet after that. You're doing just great! x

Was on the waiting list for a full by-pass. Now recovering.

Well done for getting through the surgery and getting home. It will only get better from this moment in time. You will do so well with your weight loss. Remember, this surgery is a weight loss tool, you still need to watch your food intake and make healthier choices to keep the weight off...

How do people approach going out for a meal and carb counting?

I usually have a look online to see if their menu has nutritional information attached. That way, I can decide what I'm going to eat and know the carb/protein/fat content (I realise sometimes this is not always correct!).

    Lacking motivation Hba1c 103

Hey @philly1991. Sorry to hear about your struggles with your T1DM. We all go through burnout at some stage and I second what @Juicyj says about mood changes with high BGL's. I've been there recently. Since Christmas my motivation to control my T1DM has been very low to the point where I just...

Was on the waiting list for a full by-pass. Now recovering.

Hi @ickihun, I decided to go for the sleeve gastrectomy as it is less invasive than the bypass. I didn't really want my intestines shortened!! I went for the sleeve surgery due to being 250lbs, very insulin resistant, and my portion sizes were so out of control!! The sleeve surgery dealt with...

Was on the waiting list for a full by-pass. Now recovering.

Hey @ickihun. Just caught up with your thread and your journey to get this surgery. Good luck for your op. You will not regret it. I don't post really on the forum...more of a lurker really. But, I just wanted to send you well wishes for your recovery. I had a sleeve gastrectomy 5 years ago...

Benefits and Drawbacks of an insulin pump

The pump alarms are annoying, especially throughout the night, when hypoing, but I guess that's a good thing as it makes you wake up to stop the alarms. However, I sometimes sleep through my alarms!! :banghead:

Benefits and Drawbacks of an insulin pump

Hey @Chowie. Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your Medtronic pump and CGM. Have you reported these issues? I've not experienced these issues and have been pumping for many years, 18mths with CGM. Sometimes my sensors do not calibrate, but I always report any problems with...

Benefits and Drawbacks of an insulin pump

Yes, I've had a few issues with my sensors not working properly. They are supposed to work for 6 days, but sometimes they only last 3-4 days. I've reported this to Medtronic on many occasions, and I must say, they have been very good in sending replacement sensors for me as well as a replacement...

Benefits and Drawbacks of an insulin pump

I too am hypo unaware. I live alone and I always have hypo's overnight...my Consultant was very worried about this and I was last year funded for CGM. I have been using a Medtronic pump for years now and I currently use the 640G, which links up with the CGM Enlite sensors provided by Medtronic...

    Gastric surgery

Oh, and I forgot to mention (due to not having any!!) that I did not and do not have any loose skin - not sure if that is because I've always been a gym bunny all of my life and been very active with running, but after losing all 9 stone since surgery, my skin just sprung back as the fat left my...
