    Accu chek combo white dots

It's not the battery cover - it's the cartridge cover, but you may be right i.e. that the dots are a help for people with poor eyesight. However, I suspect that they may not be able to do other things such as check for air-bubbles and see the insulin going up the plastic tube.

    I'm talking about these dots.

    Accu chek combo white dots

Hi - I'm a new combo pump user. Do any old hands know what is the purpose of the 2 white dots on the black adaptor that you push onto the end of the cartridge?

    FreeStyle Libre

If I had to self fund my test strips it would easily cost me about £30 for 2 weeks. I do on average about 6 tests a day That's a box of strips every 9 days - the box costs about £23. That is honestly not a huge difference. And when you factor in the health benefits I would not be surprised if...

What Carbs do we all count

Coming quite late to this thread. I raised this at my DAFNE course (a few years ago now) the nutritionalist said that most veg releases it's carbs to slow for the bolus to deal with. So in a way, those who do count them all are right (a carb is a carb) and those who don't are too, because if the...

What is an acceptable hypo rate

How much do the sensors cost and how long might a sensor actually last - when would you know it's failing?

    Aviva Expert Meter

Hi - My verio is more square and the clips fit over the corners. How does yours actually hold I can understand the reason that some training is advisory, but perhaps it could be replaced by an instruction program - i.e. click next when you have done this, followed by a diabetes nurse...

What is an acceptable hypo rate

Wow that does look like an amazing meter. How does it work - do you have a sensor on your skin somewhere? How often do you have to change it? Can you get replacements on the NHS? I have to say that the 'Expert' meter that I've been using for a few weeks seems to be really good at keeping me in...

What is an acceptable hypo rate

I think that the biggest complication is being disqualified from driving - which my consultant said he'd need to recommend if I didn't get hypo awareness back. And of course it is dangerous to be using machinery if you're hypo and don't know it.

What is an acceptable hypo rate

You know I am so glad to meet you on-line, other people here seem to be so exemplary. How long have you been diabetic and what meter do you use?

What is an acceptable hypo rate

Yes that was my position too. It's OK if you have the self discipline to correct without over-correcting, because that leads to high HBA1c's I'm finding the Accu-chek Expert meter to be really good. You put in the range that you want to be - say in your case 4.5 - 7.5, you put in your insulin...

What is an acceptable hypo rate

I have perhaps done my excellent consultant a dis-service. I'm sure he doesn't expect zero hypos - I just feel torn between trying to avoid hypos with a very irregular lifestyle and trying to get a half decent HBa1C.

What is an acceptable hypo rate

Well maybe I'm an extreme case - I believe that some people don't ever get it back:( It is better now than it was, but it's only since having the 'Expert' meter that I've been able to have consistent tests in the upper single figures. I now know if I'm around 3.5 or below and sometimes higher...

As long as my consultant tells me! At least till I see him in around 6 months.

What is an acceptable hypo rate

The idea is that if you have repeated lows your hypo awareness is reset to lower and lower levels so that you can get to the stage where unconsciousness is just round the corner before you realise that you are actually hypo. If you can maintain levels well above hypo you can reset that...

What is an acceptable hypo rate

That's a great average - and that's the kind of hypo sensitivity I need to get back to if possible. My 'Expert' meter is set to keep me between 8 and 10 mmol and so far, having adjusted a few settings, it's keeping me in that area. But well done you!

    Aviva Expert Meter

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that I'd like to improve about the 'Expert' is the case. It's a fiddle getting it in and out of the elastic. I also have a one touch verio that has plastic clips at each corner so you can easily use it whilst in the case, or remove it very easily. There is...
