    Ketoacidosis or Ketosis?

I thought so too! However, I tested my ketones again 3 hours after I posted this thread and they had gone down to 0.5 m/mols. I also paid my nurse a visit in the morning to be doubly certain, and she informed me that blood glucose readings would have to be above 16 m/mols for a number of hours...

    Ketoacidosis or Ketosis?

Oh brilliant thanks for the tip! I might have a dig around at home and see if I can find any of my meters from diagnosis to see if they are any good for ketone reading (I remember my nurse handing me about 3 different meters!)

    Ketoacidosis or Ketosis?

Not dumb at all! ☺️ I'm at a healthy weight so not doing it to lose weight. I've been struggling with my blood sugars for a while now, since Christmas really. I have a ridiculously sweet tooth - I couldn't go a day without eating chocolate or sweets (think creme eggs, chocolate bars, desserts...

    Hi All

Hi, I've also been Type 1 for 4 years. You are not alone! It's impossible to have perfect bloods 24/7, when things like the weather, temperature, hormones, stress levels, amount of food you eat etc all affect your numbers. To help me in the beginning, I started out by writing down all of my...

    Ketoacidosis or Ketosis?

Evening everyone, just wondered if anyone knew how to tell the difference between the two. I've just tested my ketones with ketostix an hour ago and it reads 8 m/mol. Is this dangerous? I'm on my 5th day of the Ketogenic diet. Blood sugars have been no higher than 11 m/mol this evening, and I...

Type 1 Stress & other issues

Hi all, Going to ramble on a bit here but you can skip to the end if you'd like! :D I feel so stressed. I've just started a new job as well as studying my second year of A-Levels. My blood sugars have been quite erratic and I've been hypoing at least once a day, sometimes twice (varies from...

    PIP for newly diagnosed teenager

I was diagnosed & hospitalised a year before your son (November 2013). I was also told by my nurse that there was a chance that I could get a benefit payment, as I was under 18. I did get the payment, though it took around 2 months for all the forms etc. I filled out the forms myself as I could...

    Driving Test & Hypo?

Hi all, I'm nearing the date that of my driving practical test, and I'm worried about what would happen if I went low during it. The DVLA states it takes 45 minutes to recover from a hypo and that is essentially the whole time of the test. Would I be re-charged the £62? Or would they...
