    Cycling team

I actually got some advices from one of the riders (that I managed to contact through another forum) about training and nutrition prior to riding Lands End to John Ogroats. Very useful info too. Great to see that theres T1's actually competing at that level of sport and have time for others!

    Any triathletes here?

Well I've done a bit of experimenting today. Firstly I was fasted for 14hrs so trained on an empty stomach. BG was 6.0 before a 45 min, 2 km swim (felt like I was in Z2 but don't have a swimming hrstrap) BG was 5.8 after. Then did an indoor bike session at mainly Z2 but BG dropped to 4.4 after...

ElyDave do you check bg whilst riding or do you stop? Ive read that many people test with they're glucose monitor strapped to their bars whilst riding

    Any triathletes here?

So you're basal and exercise takes care of the carbs. How have you worked out when to take the carbs because obviously without the carbs your bs would start to drop (or is that when you know to take some carbs? ) I'm pretty sure my bs would skyrocket if ate that many carbs without bolus...

    Any triathletes here?

Thanks for that ElyDave. I'm planning on testing during the race which is going to take some practice on the bike! Alternatively I may be able to borrow a cgm for the race which would be a great help. Out of interest did you bolus for the carbs that you took in during your ride or did you let...

    Any triathletes here?

Hi guys. Yep looked on run sweet but not really found what I'm looking for on there (at least on the triathlon forum?) ElyDave I'm quite happy with the swim part it's the bike and run that I'm trying to work out. I've done both run and bike 70.3 Ironman distances in training both without any...

    Any triathletes here?

Hi doing my first Ironman in June and just wondering if there's any T1 triathletes on here able to give some race day nutrition advice. Training is going really well and definitely seeing the benefits of being fat adapted but I don't think it's going to be possible to do a 70.3 Ironman without...

    To low carb or not..Type1.

@aidanbrown I can remember when I was diagnosed 15 years ago my sugars were up and down constantly, always taking correction doses etc etc and also the blurred vision! If it's any help the blurred vision will stop, I think it's just a matter of your body adjusting to all the changes it's going...

I'm sorry @Sid Bonkers I don't see your point? Firstly I don't see it as an argument, just a discussion. He actually replied to a post that I started, he's asked questions and I've replied? What's wrong with that? He's pretty much telling me that lchf doesn't work and it's impossible to...

    Exercise and ketone levels

Just been searching for an explanation of what ketone levels do after exercise as I'm still a bit unsure. My levels tend to rise a few hours after exercise and then drop off again. For some reason I felt this was wrong but having read into it, it seems like it's right? This is the post I read...

@TorqPenderloin I really should learn to read replies! Totally agree... Long runs in a low hr zone I can go all day but as soon as I open the taps I tire relatively quickly. But it's all about long and steady for me. In fact I've Ben reading a couple of books: Low carb athlete and What the fat...

It's called Optimising nutrition, managing insulin. Don't get me wrong I don't think people should be banned because their opinions differ. Would be a boring world if we all thought the same!

@uart no he's not diabetic. He has a blog all about quality carbs and why we need them (or not as the case may be!) Strange thing is its a closed group on Facebook and the guy that runs it is a massive promoter of lchf! So I'm not sure how this guy is still aloud to post on there...
