Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

9.1 this morning! I guess that jacket potato last night was a little bigger than I thought! :(

    Liqueurs?

It's all about what works for you! I live in Spain where it's the normal to be given a "shot" [small liquer] at the end of your meal or even after a couple of "normal" drinks if you are a bar regular - I quickly found that these affect me terribly...might as well just swallow a bag of sugar...

Type 2 ACHING LEGS AFTER I TAKE A NAP!

Thank you - that's a good thought, well worth further "experimentation" on my part!

Type 2 ACHING LEGS AFTER I TAKE A NAP!

Really? Wow, hadn't thought a little would have that much effect - think I have some "research" to do!

Type 2 ACHING LEGS AFTER I TAKE A NAP!

No - no medication at all at present

Type 2 ACHING LEGS AFTER I TAKE A NAP!

Today, not so good = an egg mayo sandwich on wholemeal bread - but I get the same sort of result whatever I eat if I take a nap in the afternoon which is what confuses me!

Type 2 ACHING LEGS AFTER I TAKE A NAP!

Nothing stranger than Diabetes...I never fail to be amazed by the variety of problems it brings with it! I'm Type 2, diet only control. I live in Spain where, of course, it is practically the law to take a siesta in the afternoons! I don't always take a nap, but when I do it's usually only...

Type 2 SUGGESTIONS FOR METERS TO BUY

Many thanks for your help! That particular meter seems very reasonably price compared to what I have seen locally and on Amazon.es - have checked their website and they do ship to Spain but we have regular visits from friends and family who could also bring supplies out to me! Thanks, again!

Type 2 SUGGESTIONS FOR METERS TO BUY

I was diagnosed as T2 five years ago - told that I did not need medication, just to control it by a good diet. Since then I have moved to live in Spain and continue to try to eat healthily to keep everything under control. However, the problem that I have is that on some occasions I feel...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was diagnosed as T2 five years ago and was told that I did not need any medication, just good diet control. My DSN told me that checking my blood sugars was not needed - she said too many people went to see her with a diary full of readings that meant nothing to them! Since then I have moved...

    Aching Legs!

Hi! I am T2, on no medication, diet-control only. Recently I have been getting badly aching legs, mainly my calf muscles. I've tried walking more...and I've tried walking less - nothing seems to make a difference. Some days it is OK, other days really painful. Has anyone else experienced...

    Low carb tinned soup???

Tomato is my favourite [or variations of it] from the half-ton of tomatoes I froze last summer! Love Butternut Squash too! Not much you can't make soup from really...though I have to admit that I will NOT be making Roasted Parsnip Soup again - think I overdid the chilli in it and spent the rest...

    Coconut oil - any thoughts/experiences?

Thanks! True, it's not cheap but don't we deserve a few luxuries to make up for all the things we can't eat any more? :)

    Airfryers

I was fortunate to be given an Actifry by some very good friends for my 60th Birthday - couldn't live without it now! Great for chips/wedges, roasting parsnips, sweet potato, etc! I try to eat very few "normal" potatoes but my favourite for the Actifry has to be Baby New Potatoes roasted with...

    Low carb tinned soup???

I have steadfastly avoided tinned soups since diagnosis - many cheaper ones are bulked out/thickened with potato starch and often contain "hidden" sugar so altogether not very healthy! I tend to make batches and freeze in single-portion sizes - great for a quick weekend lunch with some grated...

    Coconut oil - any thoughts/experiences?

Coconut Oil seems to all the rage at the moment - apparently brilliant for hair, skin and nail care. But what about eating it? I've read that it is good fry stir frying, roasting, etc - anyone tried it and have any thoughts?

    Thank you, Indy - that's a helpful link! :)

Agave Nectar/Syrup - good or bad?

Again, I appreciate your help - as I said in previous post, I am already following the advice received/gained and definitely feeling better for all the changes made so am sure I'm on the right track! Blood pressure and cholesterol checked last week and both fine, though I can't remember the...
